I really loved this series if for nothing more than the fact that the heroine had such an "I've made my bed, now I have to lye in it" attitude. She was not a cry baby, and she never made excuses for neither her love interest nor herself when their integrity was questioned. Just because she bared with her boss and his bad attitude, it doesn't mean that she was being ive. A prime example of being ive would be the majority of Shinjo Mayu's female leads. If anyone else here has read most of her works, then I probably don't need to say anything else. That's a REAL example of the whole barefoot and pregnant BS :/.

As far as her becoming weak during the middle of the series...I really don't agree with that. She was human and experienced moments of weakness, just like most others do. No one's strong 24-7, so seeing her resolve waver made her less of a Mary Sue and more of a human being (with feelings, doubts, insecurities, etc)...and I really appreciated that. I also appreciated the fact that she didn't feel the need to change her love interest, but instead made an effort to try and understand him-- and ultimately accept him, faults and all. She didn't bend to his every whim, she compromised. Big difference there.

Yeah, Kyouhei was a jerk, but people are who they are-- and some people are just jerks by nature. That's not excusing all of the crap that he pulled, but no one's perfect. I didn't think he was too bad, considering the fact that he was a vampire, raised on a completely different belief system than most humans. And he could have been doing far worse things than being a class S playboy; which he stopped doing on of the main character, btw. It was a gradual change, but how realistic would it have been had he just stopped right then and there?

Anyway, I could go on and on about what I loved about this series, but I won't. Obviously it's not something that everyone's going to love, but I'd always suggest at least giving it a try. Don't let my opinion sway you, because my taste is my taste 🙂 . I'm just grateful that it hasn't given me a headache like Vampire Knight sorry, but it's true

Bottom line: I loved this series no matter what anyone says.

this one is easy to read. i've encountered so many Harlequin novels, and the story feels much the same but in manga form. this also takes your emotion for a roller coaster ride since they are in some type of unrequited love in the first half of the story which i really like. 10/10

Like the line stated, this manga seemed to have been a hit at the start, and then slowly went downhill, slow enough for me to ALMOST stop reading. Luckily I didnt stop since the manga went right uphill and stayed there till the end. A really fun read, at the beginning I thought this manga was overrated due to the smut, but that does not seem to be it (I dont particularly like smut so I know). The story is intriguing to read and the fact the both characters feel for each other yet could not enter a straightforward relationship, due to their pride as either vampire or secretary.

Again, a fun read. The art is good and nice to read, but not my kind of art style much. Anyway, 8 out of 10!

You are so wrong and that shows that you didnt really read the manga properly or you just simply do not understand the manga itself, which would be a no go. They did NOT use the excuse that he has vampire pride to excuse the fact that he is a heartless jerk. On the contrary, he IS a heartless jerk. That is one reason why we fans love him for the jerk he is. The vampire pride is just there to nudge at and a bonus, but regardless he IS a heartless, selfish jerk and we cannot stop to love him for it. I mean, it is simply irresistible to see a bad boy turn good. So get it through your head.

At first i thought this manga would be one of those a lot-of-sex-only kinds but the plot and the development was really well done. I'm glad i read this manga because all 7 volumes were really worth reading. The development for their love for each other was also very romantic and refreshing. I highly recommend this manga.
It leaves you thirsty for more 😉

the main character is such a jerk, he spends most of his time sleeping with a bunch of women for "food" and for sex but every once in awhile after he is done sleeping with the other women he will desire the secretary blood so he will make out with her, and then treat her like crap. and yet this pathetic women still clings onto him no matter how much he pushes her away. he keeps hurting her and for two volumes she diligently sets up meetings for him to sleep with other women, this pathetic woman is so annoying and he is such a heartless jerk... even in volume 4 he kisses a woman infront of her and she just leaves like an obedient moron, women like he sicken me, she is worse than he is... they use the excuse that he has "vampire pride" to excuse the fact that he is a heartless jerk...

Usually I don't like it when manga drags on and on, but this was an exception. There was clearly room for more, I mean....it was just TOO EASY. It was too much of the sugary, unrealistic, happily ever after ending. So after all that, the "bad guys" just give up and say - ok, we accept you! Also, the drama and the intrigue from the beginning as well as the character appeal of both kaya and kyouhei really winded down near the end. I hope that the mangaka can write a oneshot or something about kaya and kyouhei's life afterwards.

BUT BUT BUT that is no excuse to not read this manga, for those who have not read it yet. It is a lot better than a lot of the romances (especially vampire romances) out there.

I was so addicted at first since i thought the story would go really interesting about vampire clan thing. But after i finished reading the ending vol.(except the extra on the ending vol.), this question, "What? just like that?", suddenly popped up on my mind.
Honestly, I'd been waiting for the vampire clan boss who's the most powerful guy doing something unpredictable to separate Kyouhei from Kaya. When i read it, somehow i felt the boss didn't really mean it, especially at the last few moments.
Well, this is just my personal thought, good drawing and the story started nicely but rather flat in the end. Still, worthed enough for my collection since i really like Ohmi Tomu sensei drawing (^ o ^) v

This is a great manga! I really like the characters and the plot.

Right when i was starting to get annoyed thinking things wouldn't be going anywhere they did! 😛 i]m a guy that's not usually into this kind of genre but i took a chance thanks to a recommendation and it's really worth reading 🙂

I really love this. The characters are particular, and the thing i really love is that the story is gradually moving. It gets better and it is really progressing. It's a smut but the it's not the main thing, and the plot is enchanting! 🙂

What I love about Midnight Secretary is the fact that the lead is not a stupid, naive senseless girl who falls in love at first sight. I do agree that she starts to loser her edge halfway through the series, but that is because she begins to fall in love slowly. It is a part of her character development, not a flaw in the plot or the beginning of a shoujo cliche by any means.
I love this series because of it's strong, consistant characters.
The only negative I have to say about Midnight Secretary is that it is basically smut with a good plot.... so if you have any objection to smut, it might not be your thing.
