1 Volume (Complete)

Well, I understand it a comedy manga thus not to be taken seriously.
Still, I have to say that I didn't like it that much and the way Akira acts just rubs me the wrong way.
It's a bit too morbid to be funny, especially since the main character is obviously hurt and doesn't take it all like a big joke either...
I liked Kouta as a character (at least at the start of the manga), he was adorable but Akira was just one big FAIL.
As it is, I'd say it doesn't work as a comedy, it doesn't bring across the pure comedic view on serious topics like infidelity, lying and simple bad characters.
I'm not saying that comedy cannot handle big topics like that, but it has to feel funny when you read it, like you just cannot take it seriously and it makes you laugh with the way character react.
That's totally fine, but here, you just feel really bad for Kouta and you start hating Akira for being a jerk constantly.
Too bad, because it was interesting seeing one of Takanaga Hinako's earlier works but well, the story wasn't mine so I skipped through it pretty much.
Only points I'm giving are for the art.
I'd only recommend this to die-hard Takanaga fans or people who don't mind the main character constantly being hurt and abused in pretty tasteless ways, and the general attitude that "because it's a comedy, it's okay".
If you are looking to read a manga that has a couple that really loves and stays true to one another, do not read this. Even by the end, the uke character was still a complete f***head and cheater. I feel intensely dissatisfied and annoyed after finishing this...
This story just makes me angry 🙂 Akira is an ass and the story ends in a quite disappointing way with Kouta being treated like an idiot. Stabs Akira I can't take cheating characters so I wish there was a negative number for rating this 😀 If Akira had ANY redeeming qualities it would have at least been a bit better, but he doesn't have any. He will probably catch some STD's in the future and I hope Kouta doesn't get it 🙂
I'm a Takanaga Hinako fan, and this is the first one of hers that seriously disappointed me. The artwork is very nice, of course, which is the only thing that prevented me from giving this the lowest grade.
Akira has no redeeming qualities at all. At the start of the story, he's manipulative, cold, irresponsible, and a cheater. Unfortunately, the story ends with him still being manipulative, cold, irresponsible, and a cheater.
I liked Kouta in the beginning. He was a bit shrewish, while still easily manipulated by Akira, but he was nice overall. By the end of the book I've lost all sympathy for him because he's become such a doormat --
even throwing out his own education out the window just for a chance to be akira's manager
I'm glad this wasn't the first book by Takanaga Hinako I've read, or I would have placed her in my Do Not Read list.
/off to re-read Little Butterfly to wash the bad taste this book left in my mouth.
'I can't help going out with girls because I'm still young, it's something I want to do' - sorry pal but shut up.
I have to say that is one of the worst lines I have ever read in a manga. What a feeble excuse.
Reading the manga up till that point was touch and go anyway, the sleeping around even though he knew his friend's feelings and expecting him to understand did not make a good story.
And the simultaneous confession was boring too.
It was like there was nothing good about this manga bar its nice artwork.
Poor.
I am really mad at mangaka-sensei for this stupid ass ending. Me personally dont mind the whole cheating aspect of yaois cos i feel it spices up the whole thing but i only love it when the charecter gets revenge and THIS ADORABLE SEME TOOK NO REVENGE WHATSOEVER AND INSTEAD GOT SLAPPED!!! WTFFF!! im really mad =( i dont care if Akira cried in the end hes still a bastard... I should have listened to what the other comments said...im so danm angry i mean at the end it was like 'he had hard core sex with a girl'...
cheaters in BL always cause a story to get downrated here, no matter what. me, i don't mind per se; it all depends on what's being done with the cheating.
and here not enough is done. takanaga makes akira too easy to hate by not giving him any redeemable qualities to make up for the cheating, loafing, and money wasting -- he isn't at all conscious of it being a problem at the start, but that's just not enough, especially since he does continue it even after he realises that it hurts kouta; his personality is simply oblivious to that hurt being real -- until he experiences it himself. i don't like him; he's just that sort of unobservant, irresponsible, hedonistic who can really get on your nerves -- unless you're one too. kouta is basically a solid, nice guy, but he too has issues to work out -- namely that his plans for the future never take akira's wishes into , and that he continues to demand he work on getting into university even when it becomes very obvious that akira simply is not cut out for it, and doesn't want to.
takanaga almost manages to save this one, with both kouta and akira realising that they need to change things about themselves if they want the relationship to survive. but IMO it never quite gets there; akira is too over the top to be redeemed that quickly. and -- while it's realistic that a person wouldn't entirely change their ways -- it's not particularly fulfilling in a BL manga. akira remains carefree to a degree that makes one wonder whether he actually will be faithful. and kouta ends up revolving his entire life around akira -- again, it makes sense because he is that kind of person, but i am not sure i consider this a positive development.
I felt the story had real potential to be a nice, enjoyable story, but at every turning point the mangaka instead of making the characters closer to the reader, she just made them more annoying. I felt the only progress in the story was that Akira realised his feeling and that Kouta understood that he was pushing Akira to be what Kouta wanted and not what Akira wanted. Even with them realising each others and their own feelings they did nothing to change the bad things in their messed up relationship, Akira just kept on cheating without a drop of remorse and Kouta kept being as ignorant and easily manipulated as ever.
I give this a 5 because it at least had potential.
For some reason, I really like this series.
The story is pretty typical, the art isn't Takanaga's best and there's very little steamy action. However, the characters are interesting and they both develop in their own necessary way. The 'best friends become lovers' storyline is a favourite of mine, but if that isn't your kind of thing, this story won't have much to offer you.
