Well now that I've heard it ended, I kinda want to pick it up. I I started it when it just came out and read to about the beginning of volume 10, but then I dropped it because I got bored. The plot didn't interest me and all the stuff about the manga industry were pretty obvious*** so I didn't learn anything new. But I never went back and checked this series again so I have no idea if it'd gotten better or not. If it did improve, I'd like to pick it up again. 5fi2o

Thanks!

*I meant "didn't interest me" because the plot was pretty shallow. No complexity, no symbolism or foreshadowing, only-on-the-surface character development, etc. I don't mean it's a bad manga, but the level of complexity in Bakuman just didn't appeal to me.

**I mean obvious because it stated what I already knew. Stuff like being successful relies heavily on luck, what types of genres readers of SJ tend to like, etc.

Edit: Clarification and summary of what I said above - I didn't want to know why it's bad or how it's bad but rather if it gets better or not. I've also bolded the main points of my paragraph above. [Should have done this all earlier... Sorry for the confusion! ><;]

Well if u didnt like it up to that point its kinda meaningless, because it is kinda the same throughout the rest of the manga so it would be a waste of time if u didnt like it before.

I'm having the same thoughts because it turned out to be quite a hit, even though I still don't really get why.

Me too, always wondered why this is very popular, maybe because there are many aspiring mangaka in japan?
the plot was boring, for me, and I didnt like the main character (the black haired one)

Baku-man isn't for action junkies. The closest thing I could equate it to is probably... Beck. If you like Beck, you'd probably like Baku-man. If you didn't, likewise.

To each their own.

And no, I highly doubt it has anything to do with 'aspiring mangaka'. There aren't enough of those anywhere to make a series popular.

Nor does 'learning about the industry' have anything to do with the majority of people who read/watch this piece.

Well I'm not really an action junkie XD I honestly have no preference for genre; as long as the plot is complex, well developed, makes sense, and draws the reader in, I'd like it. It's just I thought the whole story [both plot and industry news] were kinda shallow. All I wanted to know if it gets deeper and more interesting after volume 10. I think I might have read Beck before, but I really don't . I'll pick it up, thanks!
