I am looking for a manga, anime, book or movie where the basic storyline is the main character is from our normal reality and somehow they get pulled into a universe with magical elements in it that has a sweet, lovely feel. Like in Spirited Away, the main character is pulled into this world that is so vivid, as well as the movie Mirrormask. I think I once read this book when I was little where this kid goes on a walk and gets lost. Eventually they find a mysterious house where the old woman who lives there grows herbs and teaches them magic and such... though I'm not so sure that's a book as much as it was my imagination. I have this image of a small white cottage sitting in the middle of the woods surrounded by a garden as green as emerald, with herbs and vines... I'm looking for a magical world that has a fey-ish vibe. Not so much Tithe by Holly Black, because I'm looking for a sweeter vibe, like in the aforementioned Spirited Away. 6v4j38

its a webtoon, and is about a fairy living in a human world.
But i acutally loved spirited away as well and this reminds me of it a bit. (though nothing will probably ever compare to it 🙁 its just too perfect)
Fairy Heart

Feminie wa utau is also a really sweet story set in the fairy world ^^

Kamisama Hajimemashita

You might also like Witch of the Flower Forest, although there is no magic. Very sweet.

Maybe Red River? I liked that one.

An anime that is sort of like this is Noein: To your other self. The main character doesn't really go to a different world more like variations of the same world (aka dimensions) I love this anime. It's very deep and meaning full (so I find) It's one of my favourite animes.

I second From Far Away.

Zero no Tsukaima

It's about a guy who is summoned to another world as a familiar for a wizardess in training.

Thank you for all the suggestions! I have read From Far Away, Red River, Inuyasha, and Feminie wa utau, and am currently reading Operation Liberate Men and Kamisama Hajimemashita! I tried reading Daughter of the Nile and for some reason I found it kind of hard to get through, but I will give it one more try as well as Twelve Kingdoms, Zero no Tsukaima and all the other ones I haven't read 😀

Don't know if you're still looking for suggestions. Still...my recommendations are below.

Before we start, the plot of the manga below isn't "ordinary girl gets pulled in to a magical world"; I took priority in recommending mangas that have a similar sweet feeling with some magical elements--so there isn't a lot of world-building like in Red River or 12 Kingdoms. (By the way I double recommend, 12 kingdoms. It has lots of magic, action, and amazing character development--but I wouldn't describe it as giving a "sweet" feeling.)

The following 3 manga all have magic in them, a light-hearted sweet feeling, and amazing artwork.
Kon no Ki Konoha * this one is a story of a first love between a tree spirit (or ghost?) and an ordinary girl
Ciel * this one reminds me of harry potter
Sasagu Omoi wa Hana Meguri * a bittersweet story

All the works by YUMEKA Sumomo have this bittersweet feeling... some of them don't take place in a fantasy world though. I recommend all of them.

Well, maybe sweet isn't the best word to describe what I'm looking for... more like "dreamy" or "otherworldly", in that the world is filled with images both beautiful and well, "mysterious" sounds cliche but kind of like that. Something vivid, colorful... If you've ever seen Spirited Away then something reminiscent of the part where the main character is looking out at the sea and a train crosses right in the middle of it... this song kind of encomes the feeling that I'm looking for. Keep in mind that I'm not limiting myself to manga-you can recommend books, movies , anything.
