uhhh...I'm pretty sure stealing other people's mail is illegal......at least in U.S. anyway...The one who steal mail might have some sort of psychological problems.....could be that one person is lonely

I think that it's acknowledged that it's illegal, but since people do it anyway; the thread is contemplating the reasons behind hoarding mail.

Seriously? People do that? I guess if one were to analyze one's motive behind one'a action of mail theft. One would say that one have some what a troubling belief that mail theft would bring one closer to one's victims. Thus stealing mail makes one not so lonely.

Actually i think that most of the mail hoarded contains cash (yep they send it like that even nowadays), and various types of goods (, its not only envelopes, there are mail packages etc).
Now you know why your e-bay ordered arabian male pony didnt arrive.

If i DID hoard mail (which i dont) I would probably do it because im sad i dont get any mail myself (i dont) so i would just take someone elses.

...exactly why would someone want to do it? They wanna get beaten up and arrested? O_O
So I would never do it, and if there's some day that I'm extremely out of it for some reason and do it, it'd probably be for some light revenge.

lol a pity that a used stamp is worthless 🤣
it must be fresh off the mint(or whichever is the place that produces stamps), and in any case, very old or particularly rare (like special edition, limited ones etc)
