bit by bit... manga scanlate community is dying...
Shit happens. But if it gets any worse, we'll just have to head back to IRC. But by that time, the problem will be the feeds lol
But man, now i have to read shit quality chapters from now on i guess.

They really did translate it as Southern Master in the first three volumes of Negima.

Here you go. Not directly from the horses mouth but close enough 🙂
Mmm... that's an almost laughable blunder. Even given the surrounding text, one should be able to deduce his name. Even more hilarious is that these revised edition books say first edition and give the original publish date. You'd think editing the name of a prominent figure, firing your translator, and sending out a letter of apology (basically) would warrant an edition change, but what do I know?
Fun Fact: The Negima volumes three and four that I'm looking at are 7th and 5th run prints, respectively. So I'd say a fair amount of people are getting trolled by their shitty volumes 3 + 4.

It is not that bad for residents of US as it is for residents of countries where no manga series are available. Where scanlations is the only source for manga....
I am mainly referring to the countries where Manga's are not much known or popular(Example-India...yaa it is the country which I lives)
It will be largest drawback for us as we cant buy Manga(not available in India) and can neither use Viz's Alpha( As it only allows American area)....Neither Funimation site
Really our situation sucks just because of our geographical location
Looks I got out of the topic...
Viz translates and copyright those works which are hit on internet forum(as stated in Wikipedia)

Not viable for sourcing an argument, but let's ignore that for a moment. Viz licensing hit series is kind of the point of scanlating to begin with- to ensure that manga is published in a high-quality, translated form.
And, you actually can purchase the manga. There are plenty of internet bookstores that will ship you the English-language books without shipping charges (book depository, for instance). So that's not really a valid excuse. The books are still available, even if you can't use the online service.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

It doesnt really works that way. I had tried for shipping and I got only and only 1st volume of Bleach and yea some art book. (which made me pay much higher price).
Other volumes are not available(by shipping)

Trust me, there are tons that ship to India without price markups. You're not really trying to look. I already gave you an example that does.

I actually find it hilarious that some of you are actually reacting negatively towards this.
You'll all get your precious shitty shounen manga on Wednesday, just that you'll get it from a different source and maybe a few hours later than you usually did.
Big fucking deal.
Well isnt it interesting then for me to find it hilarious that there are idiotic people out there that think like this. It is a big Fucking deal. Mangastream had the shit out usually a day or 2 before other groups and their quality was better. Sure their were times were the translation was guessed but at least it made sense. If you want to troll go elsewhere and leave the debates up to people who actually give a damn 😎
Hahahaha. That's a good one.
...Wait, you were being serious? Hoh boy... A rather ironic e-handle you have because... It's misleading.

Personal insults don't make you look smarter. Please refrain from them, and remain detached.

Very good, very good :nods:
A good group is forced to stop scanlating garbage!
Now let us just hope they'll pick some decent series.
Lot's of decent series out there that need some serious loving.

If there was an iTunes of manga that will get you official HQ digital release within days of the japanese release for a fraction of the price tag (compare to volume books) and HQ volumes release in digital for similar price to the books....
A lot of big shots in corporations are very conservative. A shrinking market equals to protecting what's left of it rather than risking to expand and invade other markets. They don't realize that a lot of scanlations are around not because they are 'free' but because they are easy to access and have no other alternative source (ex: online mp3 stores vs pirate music).

Actually Viz has started a project to release weekly chapters of Naruto, One piece, Bleach , Toriko, Nurahyan No Mago and Bakuman in one weekly digital release on the Viz app on ipad. Its 0.99 cents. Unfortunately viz ipad/iphone app is US only and no android/Pc is also unfortunate and No Claymore, Hunter X Hunter, DGM.

Seriously, this. It's not like there aren't 20 other groups scanlating those same series.
Agreed. Also, Viz has every right to stop mangastream from scanlating their manga.

What it really all comes down to is this: as of now, MangaStream has decided to adhere to the wishes of Viz and stop scanlating their licensed series. Unfortunately, no matter how much we whine and complain, this isn't going to reverse their decision, so I say we stand by and respect that. Scanlating is a long and time consuming business; they don't have to do the jobs they do, so take a step back and breathe a bit, yeah?
As many others have pointed out, this decision won't stop the scanlation of these series altogether. Give it a few weeks and they'll be coming out regularly again. Granted, they probably won't be of the same quality or speed, but you'll still have access to them. I for one believe that scanlation and the internet are a great way to get people interested in a subject matter they wouldn't normally have access to, especially if their country doesn't publish manga. On the flip side, I completely buying manga when it comes out in a language you read in order to the author's hard work.
Either way, this debate isn't going to be won here and you're just wasting your time moaning about something you can't change right now.
