Chiba being based on Zack De La Rocha from Rage Against The Machine is probably my favourite. The two are both unique, yet so similar in the way Chiba's personality has been made. The fact that almost every character has a real-life basis but still manages to be unique individuals, not just clones, applies to everyone, but Chiba still really stands out for me.

Dear GOD I didn't even think that. Taira is based off of Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers. And the dude who works at the guitar shop is based off of Yngwie Malmsteen. I also saw Bootsy Collins in the crowd of one of the festivals.
Oh and Eddie Lee=Kirk Cobain

Well, clearly. But I really like the way that Dying Breed, and Eddie in general, are portrayed throughout the series. While alluding to Nirvana and Kirk, the author could've easily made everything seem shiny and nice, but he went for realism. It just makes the whole story so much more enjoyable. Plus, as I said before, the whole unique individual despite being based on someone specific thing applies here too.

I'm currently reading chapter 93, and the dude with the newspaper (here) reminds me of Keith Richards.
Don't cha agree ? 🙂
EDIT : and that band, Earth, I think you can recognize at least Osbourne and Townshend.

Forgot the most obvious one :
Jim Walsh <=> Jim Jarmusch

Hey, I was just rereading BECK again, and I noticed something. You know after Eddie dies, there's this tour that goes on called the 36th Chamber is that in reference to Wu Tang Clan's first album, Enter the Wu-Tang(36 Chambers)? Because even the "I copied it from a kung-fu movie" is the same.

Disagree, Eddie Lee = Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam. In all of his characters he only changes the last name, Jim Walsh = Jim Jarmusch, John Lee Hooker = John Lee Davis ect... Not to mention they talk about Kurt directly when they visit his house.
