I see that most people here aren't used to "confessions"
but it usually the way it goes in some place (in my place also)
well it's like declaring that you are officially going out with someone you confessed to.
it really happens like in mangas or anime 😃

Confessing, meaning asking someone out and telling them you like them? Isn't that how most people do it? I think so. Maybe not like manga-ish declaration, but it's like that too.

Haha that's so humble of you.
I have confessed before, but didn't do that with my last gf.
I'd say its some type of standart, but it isn't always necessary imo

Nope, never confessed to someone. It probably does happen in japan though, with all the manga/anime about love letters and big confessions, it must've come from somewhere. Most people I know are just straight forward, so if they have an interest in someone, they ask them out on a date ^^ casually, I don't see many/or any confessions happening.

I guess in America it's just called "asking someone out" and I don't think it's as ritualized affair as sending a love letter or taking them to a secret place.

Last I heard, in Japan a confession came with a lock. Seriously. A couple would write their initials or whatever on a lock and put it on a fence. Something about being in an unbreakable bond. Until the custodian came around and cut it off with a bolt cutter. Ofcourse , that was a few years ago and a fad so who knows what they're doing now.

I've heard of something similar.... but I think it's one of those modern reinterpretations by the kids.... probably a modern remix of the "knotting paper on a tree branch" or "engraving names on tree bark" thing....

Jap teens have all sorts of weird and sometimes morbid ways of showing the world they're goin out..... at least that's what the 'adults' told me.

Don't some jap people write on trees with some umbrella looking thing with their names on each side of the umbrella, seeing it in a bunch of manga.

This is the same as writing your name in a heart with someone else's.

Mostly young girls do that. The same seems to follow in Japan.
