I'd recommend The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks because it got really reviews and I have read the the first chapter and something was already pulling me in to read it. So, maybe you'd like that if you like fantasy novels.
As a romance novel fan, I would recommend Undine by Friedrich de la Motte Foque. It's in a fantasy-ish setting with sprites and things like that. It's about the love of a water sprite and a knight.
Next, Never Let Me Go, a dystopian novel by Kazuo Ishiguro is a great novel. You can read the synopsis at wikipedia. It has things about clones.
Also, maybe The Book Thief by Markus Zusak(if I correctly) which is basically about a girl's relationships and her life during World War II. I liked this book because I thought that the way it was written was great. The POV is of a character named "Death" who is death himself.
Other books I'd recommend are Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. A bit of a controversial book back in its time and The Kalpa Imperial.
“I thought also of another thing between us. Call it trust... That is one of its names. It is a very great thing. Though each of us alone is weak, having that we are strong, stronger than the powers of the dark.”
