I don't even use Twitter, but my news aggregation app often has a compilation of twitter reactions whenever something big happens. As far as sport goes, I haven't seen this level of reaction since that football incident in the Nou Camp where Boateng got swallowed by the pitch after Messi ed him. I doubt most MU s are old enough to recall the Mazda 787B victory at the Le Mans 24hr in 1991, but this was pretty much the rugby version of it. For the last 20 minutes, just like the last dozen laps of that race, the whole world was Japanese.

why is rugby such a big deal?
it just just overgrown men with no real tallent for other forms of ball-sports
like football
In other words it is very much like MMA for all those that can never achive anything in boxing/karate/wrestling or other forms of martial arts that need some hard work and dicipline
granted it is more fun to watch than american football
things happen and the ball is in play more than 3 seconds ASO
but i am not going to say i like it
is it still some form of upperclass/unibrat sport like Polo, cricket and maybe foxhunting lol in england?
or is that the case with Rugby in all countries?

A bit late but this needs answering. the stamina, discipline and ball handling skill required makes rugby a very competitive sport and one that is very hard to master and compete in successfully. rugby is no longer the sport of the elite. league went pro and union ed soon after.
one of the reason USA loses even though they have great players like Chris Wyles is that one person cannot carry a team like in football. Rugby is nothing like MMA they might have similar body build but that where the similarities stop. I'm under the impression that you don't like rugby and that is cool but it is very insulting to say they have no talent. the rugby world cup is the 3rd biggest tournament in the with the first being Fifa world cup and 2nd olympics.
