As the subject title says, this story is trying to give a view on how to understand and accept each other by telling an abstract but at the same time also straight-forward story. I like how simple the art ist to compliment the abstraction, but also because of the text-heavy monologues, but that's how we come to understand the characters. I'd say the main theme of the story is the question of how... 704s4q
It's one of the rare slice fo life pieces I really like. It has varied and lovable characters, their distinct chracteristics make them endearing. Character growth is seen not only in MC but also side-characters and even the town in itself. It's not only about rural vs. city life or dreams and aspirations, what really stood out to me was the realistic portrayal of procratination, avoidance or...
EVERYTHING was perfect. Characters, story, progression, art, pacing and the ending. It balances the tension pretty well and the thought process of children in situations like these are very realistic. I have to agree with the other comments though, this has not much action, drama or mystery, so don't go reading expecting that and it will be an enjoyable read.
The story was consistent and fleshed out and didn't rely on any tropes. I also liked the historical/colonial aspect that was incorporated into the story and the dynamic of the characters. The characters were all important and had just enough depth for their role, nothing was too much or lacking. I'm usually not into the mystery-horror genre but this was unexpectedly good in a way that makes me a...
It goes without saying that a shoujo must have its tropes, but what I liked most about it is, that the couple actually TALKED and LISTENED to each other about their feelings whenever there was trouble. Something not even a Josei always manages.
Something that is definitely untypical in shoujo is the blatant interest in sexual fantasies, which is totally fine and normal. I hope that mangas like...
It's the first time I read a story that actually puts the elderly protagonist's self-development, goals and hopes into focus and not just use their struggles to mobilize another plot that ends up making the younger ones the protagonists. I loved the atmosphere and portrayal of different nuances of relationships in this constellation of family, doctors, friends and whatnot. The chemistry between...
This is definitely missing the "thirller" tag. I'm usually good at figuring them out, but Fujisawa managed to build in so many twists and turns without a miss or deterring from the story. The strength lies in the deep dive into each character's motives so you can slowly see the whole picture coming together. While the twists where unexpected they never felt out of place or time, because the...
I never got tired of rereading all the chapters as I awaited new chapters, those two hold a very special place in my heart. The author has a way with words and the art emphasizes their style of expression. I didn't feel too conflicted about the ending/extended ending. It was pretty fittingly realisitic and shows how maturely they can look back on "their youth".
This is one of the few yaoi couples that doesn't have an overly uke/seme dynamic and I love it. I usually don't enjoy stories with organisational intrigues or whatever but personally I thought the author kept a good balance between the budding romance and the exploration of the plot. I love the writing, the side-characters, the design, the ending, it was perfect to me. Before the last chapter came...
I loved EVERY character in this story. The high amount of chapters are really justified since everyone's motive and story get explored. It's not just a mix of short stories but the characters are all connected to the MC reaching for his dream and inspiring everyone along the way.
The main love story might be cliche but it fits just right with those two MCs. Yes it's slowburn, but not in a...
I wholeheartedly agree with the previous comment by zakiue, this was a beautifully written story about homosexual love in the 70s with a happy outlook without disregarding the general disapproval of society. The story-telling through diary entries and the connection with the nephew gave the story a really sentimental atmosphere which brings out the way their love bloomed. I definitely recommend...
I'm not a particular fan of Chepali's works but Park Ji-Yeon always captives me with their art. The story is quite sentimental, the writing, the art, the characters. You'll get really immersed in their love story and I found myself rooting for the MC.
The time skip wasn't unreasonable at all, i was quite fitting as we see how they found their resolves individually at a different time in their...
I love all of BAD PHARMACY's works, but this one particularly captivated me with their MCs. Another story about a young love that meets the limit of their possibilities and reunite in their adulthood. I especially loved their reunion and their chemistry in general though and how the people around them are involved. Always looking forward to their next work, whether as BAD PHARMACY or yaggug.
This is one of the rare Yuris where the dynamic is not toxic or all lovey-dovey. We get to see a true friends-become-lovers and self-discovery. The families' heavy involvement is the selling point for me. You really get to see the struggles and implications with being insecure in oneself and ones sexuality and fitting into the family. The pacing was perfect for my taste.
Cutest couple ever. I'm so sad that it ended. Everything was perfect. The characters and friends, the pacing, the reasoning and the end. Not too corny, but wholesome enough and a bit daring.
I'm not too much into supernatural/fantasy stuff, but this was a very compelling tale, moreso about the brothers, than the main couple? That doesn't mean the development of the couple is lost though, it's perfectly paced and not too much drama.
This was a nice journey, seeing all the characters mature together. Contrary to others, I didn't feel like this was a slow burn, rather than that it felt really natural the way they fell in love. The storyline of the main FML was too realistic for a Josei (in a good way), since I was definitely able to sympathize with her. Though the main group of 6 people were each eccentric on their own, their...
Despite what the low rating comments suggest, this work doesn't romanticize the porn industry and toxic relationships at all. Everything was handled maturely and sincerely despite the plot setting. I was actually surprised of the decent amount of smut considering porn being a main element, those scenes weren't even explicit but very classy. It still manages to portray different views on the porn...
Ngl, I went into this thinking "I'm just gonna read a few chapters, probably some pride and prejudice adaptation" and it was much MORE than that. If you like to read stories with major character development, this one is a perfect example. It's also not just a simple love story where two opposites draw closer by understanding the other's view and situation (prejudice) or refusing to recognized the...
because it's a masterpiece. Nothing about this is creepy or exploiting. Of course, when it comes to the realtion between a child an adult there's ALWAYS an imbalance of power. But this topic has been dealt with so sensibly and intensely so. The author managed to go very deep into the dynamic without setting the lines between romantic/familial/dependent love. The writing was very emotional and made...
This had a very interesting premise that allowed us to look deeper into relationships. Regrets, hopes and dreams of each individual become a common ground to work on where both parties have to take responsibility on wether the relationship works out or not. The pacing was perfect and the writing simply beautiful. I've only took away 1 star because I think it could have been even better with less...
This was a very heavy read with alot of triggers, but never did I feel like it they were utilized for drama or as a plot device itself. The mystery of the case is orchestrated very well, it's been a good while where I felt like everything was coherent while not being too constructed. There's really no point where I felt like "ooh I like this character" or wished hell on them, the focus is really...
I loved how the feelings of the two MCs were portrayed and how it was resolved. Some may have found the drama with the 3rd party unnecessary but I think the amount was not too excessive and the internal homophobia played a big role in that. This will really tug at your heart strings. Not too heavy and dark but heartfelt and longing.
I really don't get why "annoying leads", and even "delusional FL", were tagged for this story. Do the MCs annoy each other? Yes, it's their love language. Are they annoying because of their character? No, they were quite a bit of a fresh air in the vast amount of rich ML/ poor FL webtoons. If anything, they are not delusional at all whether it's about their status in society, their relationship or...
This work definitely depicted sexism in all it's facettes. It doesn't just show the blatant systematic discrimination of women in all kinds of fields, but also the paternalistic motives behind well-meant deeds by men AND women, women can have internalized sexism too. I paticularly liked that the revenge itself was not majorly in the foreground, and instead focused on the inidividual women coming...
I loved this couple, a sassy prince combined with a righteous knight. Their relationship just develops so naturally and paced just right. Apart from the romance the adventure plotline is also interesting enough for people like me who usually don't read these kind of stories.
Normally those tags would have discouraged me from reading but the art and writing were really captivating and it didn't feel like it was just for the gore and shock or whatever. I get that it's not for everyone though, it's pretty gruesome, has a lot of triggers and the MC is beyond forgivable. In its essence this story deals with questions to regrets, redemption and forgiveness, things that in...
Now I'm not much of a historical fan, but the premise drew me in and promised me a beautifully written story about an innocent love. It's gonna be a tragic story, which was kinda foreseeable but it fits their story just right. The writing was paced perfectly and flashbacks were always in context giving the flow of the story a good perspective on the emotions of all the characters. While non of the...
If you have liked Shiwasu Yukis "Takane to Hana", you'll also like this one and vice versa. Contrary to what a few commentators said, the age gap works because the FL is almost as immature as the ML. They both grow with each other though and their chemistry is perfect honestly. The story itself is pretty interesting but a few too many dramatic arcs. The author doesn't leave any loose threads...
Every character in this story is crazy and an asshole, but you will still want to read how they end up living with each other. It's definitely a quick enjoyable read, if you, like me, like to read some crack comedy once in a while.
This is one of my favourite LGBTQ+ work. It doesn't have any sexual nuance at all and realistically portrays many different difficulties and conflicts regarding accepting LGBTQ+. It's not only about feelings of disgust opposing the queer community but also the well-meant treatment that comes off as paternalising and sensationalising. Also, the journey of accepting one's own sexual identity and...
First of all, this is not a BL, while it does exist as a subtext the focus is on relationships in our adolescence. I really loved all the characters, they had personalities full of duality and the relationships with friends, lovers or aquaintances were explored in their facettes. This depth of portraying definitely made the story come of as realistic and natural. Though the plot device may have...
Though I probably won't reread it again, I was always looking forward to every next chapter, because you really want this couple to get together and have their happy end. Though the seme is not unproblematic, their dynamics work really well together, especially the MC is decisive enough to end it when it's necessary but follow his heart when it's warranted. There's always a bit of drama, but they...
If you're looking for a story, this is not for you, it doesn't have any conclusion or reason. It's more about the happenings and the unsettling feeling that is supposed to be invoked. You should be warned though, after reading this you will feel drained, I can't really explain it, but as the journey progresses you can really feel how the protagonists lose hope. The way it is objectively narrated...
It was almost perfect, I could have done without the antagonistic LI.
When I say "explicit" I mean they really point out what toxic behavior is and how it should be done right. The ML is by no means perfect but he acknowledges that and they always end up communicating thoroughly.
Reading their story I couldn't help but root for them because they really gave it their best.
This was just the right balance of mystery, romance, crack and fantasy. Especially the comedic moments fitted in just right with the plot. I guess the couple also adds to the whole chemistry. The end was a bis rushed but you'll be laughing along the ride for sure.
A good mystery story with a gay couple, which is not the central plot. Although it was pretty predictablle the art and dialogues were executed well enogh to draw you in and create a creepy atmosphere. It's definitely worth a read and is also not too short or too long.
You can't help but root for the main couple and enjoy their journey. I see people complaining about the female MC being too dense, but I think it realistically shows a person that hasn't have much interactions with peers to actually acknowledge feelings of friendship or romance. It is pretty clear from the beginning that she has it ingrained in her brain that she has to herself in her own,...
The story started out strong with a peculiar relationship between the MCs and their complex motives that change with time, still as complex and intriguing. At a certain point of the plot (somewhen after the middle) it drags on. Some events (though well-meant) were kind of unnecessary imo. The ending might have been unsatisfying for a lot of people but I think it played out well and was quite...
The setup overall was a bit subpar, but the dynamic of the couple was really sweet, even the side-couple took my interest. I would have love to see either relationship progress further and let the story develop more depth in the characters and their backgrounds. I guess the side-story made up for that a bit. The smut was just right in amount and intensity.
I really loved this work of Tanemura because of the characters, they were very well fleshed-out. The plot itselt gets irritating and confusing at times but there is a more or less satisfying conclusion. The ending is, no matter who you are rooting for, not really shoujo-like and even for open relationships there were still too much unresolved opininons.
