My only big issue where 2001 Nights is concerned is that the whole series reads exactly like a North American comic, not a manga. Barely any of the significant characters are East Asian, there are no South or South East Asian characters at all (very odd considering how advanced India is in the field of astronomy), the smartest and most heroic people all have North American/Western European names... 4d423l
And that is: despite the brilliance of the plot, the intricacy and accuracy of the science, and the exciting pacing of events, the actual solution was so simple, and scope of the hero's quest (ie: saving their love interest) so tiny, that instead of iring the mangaka's ingenuity, all I came away thinking was: "Such brilliance, wasted on such a boring goal!" I mean, why, really, should I care...
This is the kind of manga where you're required to pay attention to even seemingly minor throwaway points if you're to properly understand the story. Being quite complicated, plot-wise, for a mere two volumes, not a single page is wasted: so I recommend reading the whole thing in one go as opposed to chapter-by-chapter.
