All right, I don't want to pick a fight with the many fans this story obviously has, but to me, just trying to survive the first few volumes was sheer torture. What made the torture worse was that the set-up was so good -- with the first volume, I had high hopes of what would happen in the future. I kept reading because I wanted to see those hopes fulfilled....
I started reading this because the premise sounded interesting -- boxing isn't exactly a common theme in shoujo manga, after all.
My god. I really shouldn't have hoped for anything interesting! The heroine is a bland little dweeb with absolutely no realistic depth. No one can be that boring! Just reading about her romantic delusions makes me want to spork my eyes out. I have no idea why the two...
The romance is tired and uninspiring, with almost nothing original in it. The heroine is ridiculously genki and simple-minded to a fault (it would be cruel to call her moronic, but it's a near thing). In essence, this manga made me gnash my teeth at its stupidity.
