Not to be taken seriously, but to fall in love with the characters.

You really can't take the series too seriously when you go in reading.

However, the characters are awesome. You can get their basics as soon as they're introduced, but as you continue reading, more of their facets are revealed. Sure, they're not fully rounded, but they're also not completely 2d. It's a good balance for a manga artist's first.

I personally enjoy it, the manga is a good slice of life. You'll find yourself rooting for the characters, hoping they succeed. When they don't, you feel their defeat and tension. To me that's what marks a good story and makes me want to read more.

You can get a good laugh from the characters' expressions and dialogue. Their personalities mix well and the main character, Izumi Ichiduo, is simply fun. His personality is gripping, you're pulled in to his story before you know it. Takeuchi Hallow has done that with all his characters which is a feat. Some are flatter and less interesting than others, but I'm sure as we learn more we'll really see them shine.

Izumi Ichiduo is not perfect, often times he acts rude and full of himself. However, his attitude doesn't get to you like the protagonists in 'Innocent Bystander Stuck in a Mysterious World'. He still shows his ion, sincerity, kindness, and hard working attitude. Along with his frustrations over loosing, his rudeness, and his ego. Making him not a programed robot, [°=°] like many manga protagonists.

Takeuchi Hallow did a good job, and I ire his hard work.

A bad premises with full of cliches, and poorly executed manga...

This manga tries to be unique by combining Fencing sports with Fighting Games, but it completely fails to bring out the charm from both sides, especially from the game side, where it's ended up being nothing, except the usage of some jargons.

The series were also full of cliches, where the MC were forced to a club without his consent, and he somehow just goes along with it, despite he's clearly against it.

Also, the whole "game room" bet were clearly shitty writings, because it was clearly rigged from the start, where the MC, who doesn't know a thing about Fencing, were fighting against the club's captain, which definitely the strongest member, and I can't shake my head that the MC just accepts the duel like it was nothing...

This manga were already flawed from the beginning with the weird concepts, and I just can't recommend it to anyone, since it clearly wants to depict that pro gamers were trash and it's not real sports.

I guess the author were too yellow to compete head-to-head with High Score Girl, despite there's only a handful of mangas that were focused on fighting games, especially the ones who brought up the whole pro gamer subject...
