It does very well as a yandere story. This author is good at writing edgy stuff so I enjoyed it.

The story had enough substance for the yandere Ml and FL backstory but how the romance is handled is debatable. It works well if you are not looking for a proper romance story. Yandere tag doesn't necessarily the romance aspect has to suffer. I felt like Lero knew what they wanted to do. The outline of how things should go in the story was clearly there It seems the author was afraid to push some things with the FL. The other characters it seem they had no problem doing it with. But I felt the FL needed more time to grow. Instead it became a story of who should have the female lead who's a better like she didn't deserve better love interest to choose from. It didn't feel completely unrealistic but the playboy guy seemed kind of rushed in character development. Like he only seems to question his morals when the FL lead show up but she didn't do any thing so significant that would take him out of his loop of lust. It feels more like it happened because that's what the FL wanted. He also mentioned why he is the way he is but we never get backstory on that or how he came to be that way.

All the characters have self awareness on some level but self awareness doesn't make up for story. You can make  a whole story without self awareness, at least on this level. Self awareness isn't going to stop a character from making bad (or good ) decisions. It just makes it easier for readers to judge them.

I want to give this an 8 but I know the author can do better and the story could have been better. So I gave it a 5 if I remove the enjoyment the story gave me.

Honestly alot of the issues I have with the series seem like they would of worked themselves out naturally had the author extended the story because it has a strong beginning and end (because it's good closure) but the middle of the story could have been much better. We definitely needed more moments between the characters. It doesn't feel completely earned.

Extra but not necessary: Even the though nearing it's end it was becoming a little rushed. It wasn't necessarily badly written. Although I do feel like last time like what happened with "Appetite the author was was getting tired of the story". They have good Ideas but I feel an author should work on things that they won't get too bored of either.

genuinely shocked at how much i enjoyed this! read this after seeing someone say it's got some similar elements as cherry boy, that girl (which it absolutely does - crossdressing yandere character, a main character who's afraid of the opposite sex but with a much more shoujo vibe). this is dark and horror at points but the exploration into the messed up psyche of the extremely abusive yuri (the adopted name of yul) was absolutely fascinating. as an aside, i'm iffy about how crossdressing/gender non-conformity is treated here. definitely underpinned with tones of queerphobia but that's another discussion.

the twist were well-written (the very end did surprise me)! and the general eeriness was portrayed fantastically in the art. very good use of ling, shadows, and color. i will say, though, perhaps the magnitude of yul as a character has outweighed all the other ones. there was an intense focus on his obsessive loneliness and poor family life (though there should've been more elaborated on his sister) that we don't get much development in other relationships/characterizations.

i also was not the biggest fan of the fl (sian) & ml's relationship. they were cute i guess but i just didn't like how he was so shitty in the beginning & how the 180 personality flip wasn't really explained well. thus their relationship just seemed secondary almost? not a lot of chemistry idk. best case scenario tbh was sian ending up w neither of them but alas.

overall a really captivating read with a solid ending. (though i would enjoy seeing more of yul's later life)

Like they said, it's grippingly and satisfyingly toxic. So good.
The twist blew my mind. Everything was so new to me.

I usually go for yandere MLs, but blondie has a huge character development. And I just noticed after rereading it that Sian is very transparent with her feelings, she feels scared always with Yul, and she’s able to be herself and is always looking in love when she’s with Yujin.

It’s refreshing to see a main character that has some common sense and feelings, really thought she’ll end up with a yandere character since that’s the trend and I was about to drop the series but thankfully not. Great ending!

So I really liked this and couldn't stop reading it, but it took a different direction than I thought it would.

I totally thought our yandere male lead was going to get the girl. I would have preferred that. Obviously, "Yuri" was nuts so I wouldn't wish that upon someone in real life, but this is fiction!

If you are reading this review before hand take it as your trigger warning for self harm and gore in the manhwa. That being said this was VERY good. It snuck up on me. The first few chapters felt like a fun little gimmick and then things start to suddenly unfold all at once. The ending was really intense. It all got really real. Im a sucker for that kind of story telling so while it was a rollar coaster of emotions for me at the end of the day i think it was very good and well written.

If you’re wondering if you should read this, you should! I’m not sure why but I’ve been putting off reading this for a long time and when I did finally read this, I have come to realize that this is one of my favorite manhwa of all time!
