Where do I start? Zen is MVP!

This is one of those frustrating readings. The main couple (the one the author decided to go for, for some reason) is just horrible and with no kind of logic or development. Their relationship of friends, or at least a mature guy who showed her the way to an independent life and teaches her somehow about family, teenage love and stuff was great, but for some reason the author decided to ruin it and force a romance between them. Like, first the landlord reacts negatively to her feelings (as expected from any normal person), while he tries to push her to be with Zen, ing him as well, but then he suddenly changes his mind and decides to be with a minor that he barely knows. He literaly spends more time pushing her away than anything. Why did he change his mind?
Poor Zen turns into a punching bag and he doesn't deserve it. Not too mention that the author makes him so OBSESED with the protagonist (which I can't see why if she's the most plain character in the series) that he ends up looking like an idiot. He really deserved better. Like, why do you spent time and effort making him into a carring and genuine guy, if you're going to waste it?

It took a lot of willpower in me to finally finish reading this manga...

The story has a lot of plot holes and sometimes lacks logic...
I also don't like how the author delivers the story, it was somewhat confusing!!!!
The heroine is childish and immature...
I'm not sure if she is in love or just infatuated... Cause she quickly changes target if things don't work out...

The only redeeming trait of this manga is its Art...
But the rest are mediocre...
I much prefer the Author's other work than this one...

This story can't seem to get reality right sometimes. The father of the landlord is just too ridiculous for words. Seriously.

However, the fact that Shimana tried to fall for different guys makes sense and realistic. Poor Zen though. I think that dragged on way more than it should have. And . . . this manga just had too much going on in the sense of relationships and connections. Everyone seems to be linked in some way to the point where it's just too much.

Asahi is Taiga's half brother and half brother to Minami. So there's a bit of forbidden love. Taiga's father should be shot because for f***'s sake, grow up! You shitty bastard! Controlling your son to extreme lengths and destroying your other son's love just because you had an affair. There's not a single freaking thing that redeems you. NOT A SINGLE ONE! Miura's deadpan face is super off-putting but that makes his romance so sweet. I would have wanted more of that.

And Taiga really should have been more romantic as the later chapters are more forceful and funny. I know it's in his nature but it's not one bit realistic. Seriously.

While I did enjoy this, I had fewer "I need to read more" feelings than with any other romance manga. I'm quite puzzled on how this manga was popular. I would have thought that a manga that has 10 volumes would be better but this was average. Only the comedy saved it. I wouldn't read this again and if you're looking for some romance, I think you're actually better off skipping this. I would higly recommend you read Kanata Kara as THAT is a brilliant manga.

To be honest I got irritated at the early part of the story. The heroine was childish and annoying. But there were love scenes that were different from other shoujo mangas, so that made me want to stay for a while. Then since

Zen told Shimana he'd move on it started to get interesting, and it got better and better from half part of the story. Everyone overcame their problems, they changed and matured. It felt so real. Without realizing I got attached to the characters. Especially Zen, he is a strong character, I liked and could relate to his monologues, and I ire him for what he did. I felt like going back to high school and matured all over again as the story went. Overall it was a great journey and I'm glad I completed reading the whole thing.

Nasty Protagonist

If you're looking for a major flaw, well it's right at the center of the story: The protagonist is a rotten spoiled brat. The premise of the story hinges on that, in fact. She runs away from home and ends up living in a house with 3 guys (reverse harem), but in reality there is no reason for her to run away from home as everyone loves her and wants her back. But no, the protagonist is an egotistical brat that will have her way no matter what.

Speaking of having her way, she meets a girl who she ires and the girl immediately becomes friends with her, is very kind to her, gives her a makeover and pays for all the clothes etc.... What does our heroine do? Go for the guy that the other girl loves of course! Forget about the fact that this girl has explicitly told her she's loved this guy forever.

There is a guy who is in love with the protagonist but keeps getting rejected. When he finally says enough is enough and tries to get over her, the protagonist is seriously displeased and sad at this, despite the fact that she is in love with someone else and has no feelings for this person. Yup, the protagonist is the kind of girl that wants to keep these guys bound to her. In general, every character in this manga is serving as a "courtier" to the main girl. It's as if they have none of their own lives, wants or desires, it is all about her her her, and everyone else is a cardboard cutout.

The only positive thing I can say about this story is that it reads relatively quickly and it is not boring. I am not exactly sure how the mangaka managed to turn an annoying storyline with idiotic characters and no justice at all, just a puffed up female lead into something other than boring, but somehow she did. That's some talent right there. Still, I do not recommend you read this. It might not be particularly boring, but it sure is very annoying and completely unrealistic.

Awkward and cute

Some of the parts in this definitely felt forced; but I like all the characters (despite how flat Asahi became as the story progress) the main love-triangle managed to grow during the entire run.

It was definitely interesting to see Shimana and Landlord's relationship grow, and I think the awkwardness between the both made it realistic for me (despite its shoujo cliches)

It's a quick read on one of those days and definitely recommended for fans of Taiyou no Ie

Try reading it a second go.

I gave it a second and ittedly loved it. The first time I read this was way back in high school. I pretty much have the exact reaction with you guys, Shimana is weak, Zen is cute, Taiga is weird haha. Then I gave it a second read.

What I love the most is the bond with the characters. They all seem like a real family. There's no small drag out emotion. HONESTY, is what makes this awesome.

Zen's pushiness can be annoying at times but he gave it his best.
Shimana's weakness is also her strength and I love how she is honest and fully rejected Zen the first time.
Asahi is the probably the coolest of them all.
Miura is GODDAMN FUNNY!!! One of my faves.
Saeko is perfect.
others etc etc....

LASTLY, Taiyou Fujiwara a.k.a LANDLORD
He's a young adult but has a childish thinking when it comes to love. Again throughout the series you could witness how he becomes open and itted to liking Shimana and how he was pathetic and all. My favorite character.

All in all After reading it again, I had a different view. Like Taiga I grew up and see some of the other details of the stories and how it was portrayed.....
There was no mushiness and those usual Shoujo shitty fluffs just pure flow sweetness.

The female lead

The female lead is way too shallow, the art was somewhat fine but after reading about 5 to7 chapters I couldn't take it and I dropped it without a second thought
I can't even say the storyline is that good! honestly, If I can't even sympathize with the lead characters then what's the point of wasting my time my reading such a thing.
You know what I absolutely can't stand? a stupid wishy washy girl who has nothing to do in her life but think about the guy she likes and expects him to do the stupid sh*t that she imagines in her useless brain(sorry I know I sound like I'm over-reacting but the manga was too disappointing for me, seeing the rating I expected something better) like, really? going out and then it rains so you sit there like an idiot and imagines wither the cool handsome guy you like very much will run for you with an umbrella in his hands.... just get your friggin ass back into the house and take a friggin shower, then go to sleep and never wake up
and really? helping the guy she likes to get together with the girl he likes? didn't that get old already? I wonder if that part was meant to make the readers touched or something? with all honesty this part was so tiring to read because of the amount of boredom it contains!

I get the feeling that the mangaka was trying really hard for a meaningful type of feeling with this story, the kind of feeling you get from reading mangas like Cat Street or Fruit's Basket or something, but it just doesn't work!!! The characters are so unappealing! The only character I like is Zen!!! If the manga was about Zen I would love it!! I don't like the main character and her love interest because it just keeps going around in circles!! It's getting so boring! I managed to slog through to Vol 8 hoping it will get more interesting but I'm just about ready to drop it!!! Uggghh~!!

Zen is absolutely adorable but his obsession with pandas is kinda...weird sometimes...like EVERYTHING is pandas?? lol!

Embarassing female lead

The main character is so wishy washy and noncommital that it's hard to take it seriously. She acts like a child yet seems to fall deeply in love with any older male that looks at her kindly.
