Kanzaki was picked up by the yakuza Sugawara when he was a youth and managed to survive. Sugawara eventually took over as clan leader, and Kanzaki came to Sugawara as his right-hand man. However, the clan has already begun to decline, and Kanzaki spends his days cleaning up the mess left behind by the former head of the clan.
