Description

Series Cancelled on a Lackluster Note

This series has some very good things and some very disappointing things about it. The protagonist's inexplicable personality shift and his patronizing treatment of women are big issues in the negative column. The series calls itself out at one point for the fact that the majority of the friends of the protagonist are women, but doesn't take the opportunity to address the problematic perspectives that the protagonist has. It's not the most misogynistic perspective by any stretch of the imagination and was still ultimately readable in my opinion, but I could see some being a bit put off by it. The other major problem is that the series got cancelled and the ending is not really an ending as a result. As of now, 80 chapters is the complete work.

The redeeming things about this series have more to do with the fact that it focuses on character development, platonic relationships (although I am a fan of romance, none materializes in this series), and subterfuge. The stakes are sufficiently high to drive the action in a satisfying way, but time is taken to flesh out who many of the characters are such that the world feels robustly populated. I just wish that the series could continue so we could see the relationships and characters develop further.

I kind of like it despite its flaws

Currently on ch.70

It's about a failed writer in his 40's that writes trash novels that a lot of people don't like, he died because of his high blood pressure of reading hate comments (lmao). He can choose to go to heaven after clearing all of his sins or he can choose any of his novels to reincarnates into, but most of his novels are depresssing and apocalyptics worlds so he chose the one where he's most likely to survive. At first when he reincarnated, mc was ive and trying everything to survive but later on he's prideful and has a temper, idk why because it's not really explained or maybe that's his actual personality when he was still alive? There's no ecchi scenes at all but it's heading towards a harem route, however that's not the main focus of the manhwa.

What's keeping me to read the manhwa is the plot and well... just like every story reincarnation, the mc WILL change the original setting because he wants to save certain people. You may dislike the mc being a prick and prideful but honestly i kind of prefer this mc over pushover wimpy mc and he actually has a lot of good sides later in the story. The mc doesn't really have any cheats or overpowered abilities and work his ass off pretty much everyday, he also don't really see the girls as romantic interests except one because of his past age. The art is pretty decent and the characters are actually not bad but some of those that were supposed to be important in the original story turned into air because of the mc.

Edit: welp, it got cancelled, i was kind of looking forward to more chapters. I really like some of the characters

TL;DR
Writer in his 40's died and reincarnated into one of his novels as a demon prince, he starts attending the academy while disguising himself to keep his identity hidden. Any actions or people that the mc wasn't meant to save or do in the original story greatly altered the plot as well as his relationships with his classmates. Honestly i'd recommend it if you're ok with the mc being kind of a prick but also puts in the work with no cheats, and how he well interacts with his classmates despite being a prick.

in universe the MC is a bad writer.
the real writer is also bad.

each chapter is just a bore.

I also really hate this "he was the author of the world he's in." type shit. they always use the "I didn't write this character. what the fuck am I supposed to do?" and the "things are deviating from the main story." like, who cares? that information is useless because we as the audience don't know the original story. Just write a story with a good fantasy world. and not have it be another garbage isekai.

Inconsistent power fantasy

The main character is a prideful asshole and escalates situations constantly for no reason. I don't get why he is this way, he was a failing author in his past life and he's (supposedly) desperately trying to survive here and has no cheat powers. So why does he act like hot shit, pick fights, and even actively bully other characters? The narrative rewards him for it, too. Every single situation turns out in benefit of him. Everyone who is narratively important likes him. Characters will act of character and the narrative bends around his every action. It's a poorly written power fantasy that pretends it's smart by not explicitly sayings it's power fantasy schlock.

He also treats women like utter shit, constantly infantilising them and harassing them yet literally every single female character is attracted to him regardless of their relationship and how he acts to them.

Yea it was interesting until he goes to school and start treating the hot sempai like a whore just because she like him and tries to be affectionate to him, it felt like the author is female and hate girl how are HOT!, loving, kind and caring, no male in the world how is single will have entire monologue about a girl being suck a slut for giving him a hug and telling him she like him, context people she is super nice, no single men or lesbian will ever do that'

you may not enjoy the first chapters as much as i did but once he goes to the school the level goes up a notch !! the mc is amazing without being op (for now) and the story seems to give a bigger focus on romance than other fantasy manhwas with male protagonist which is refreshing 🙂

Promising but still early

It's only got 23 chapters as of now and it's really promising. I have to disagree with AM_Woody's opinion that it started off bad. The MC is thrown into an endgame situation as his story starts off with the hero fighting the Demon King/Lord in the Demon King's Castle, in a world that was created from one of his novels, the person he reincarnated as isn't OP like you'll see in many Isekai manga/manhwa and thus needs to use his brain to avoid be killed in what seemed to be a harmless slice of life academy novel.
