I binged this within 2-3 hours. Got sucked in because wow, I love the art SO MUCH. It is so damn beautiful. Totally my style. But oh my, the PLOT! It's the reason why this series' rating is so dangerously low. I was debating between giving a 6 or a 7, but the end was just wayyyyy too much.
It was such a crazy rollercoaster that it was straight up nonsense. Starting from chapter 35+ after that yacht party plot -- even by then it was already going way too fast, but it was downhill from there. There's just so much "I can't even" moments that it's impossible to list them all out LOL*. All comments were talking about how rushed the story was. I actually think the story would've been alright if it was fleshed out better -- but no, it ended in 64 chapters, which was really not enough to wrap up everything. We're left with so many plot holes, BUT despite that, the artwork was done so well. The scenes, the angles, the direction -- they salvaged what they could with this ridiculous plot, and that deserves praise on its own.
*Now I feel compelled to write down what I had issues with. Not in chronological order, but just by what I feel was so bad:
- The evil villain Anna Kang being sorry at the end and getting jailed. HUH? If you really did like someone, then you don't get him KILLED. But no, she conspires with daddy to rig OG Kang-il's car brakes like several years ago, just to turn herself in to the cops at the very end. This whole plot point and random 180 character change came outta left field, and imo she really should have stayed evil til the end. If anything, her dad should've gone down, not her lol. It's not satisfying! UGH.
- Eunhong's ex coming out of nowhere to visit her when she left Kang-il after Stella told her they should take some time apart, cuz he probs doesn't want her to see him in that beastly state. Ex bf served zero purpose aside from letting FL confirm that "oh yeah this is real love cuz it feels so devastating". Literally hi, bye. Like, okay...
- LOL AND ALSO she trekked ~2 hrs back home, got drunk and fell asleep on the rooftop, didn't even shower, and then she gets called out to the lab by Detective O cuz Kang-il is in danger. I honestly laughed cuz what the heck is with this series of events??
- When Eunhong got kidnapped by Gyeol, she escaped by sneaking into a truck, and then suddenly it was Gyeol's men vs. the Double Knives aka the gangsta that ML saved before -- so now we got people actually dying now, which is so unnecessary but oh well that's just the way things are going.
- It's hilarious because ML suddenly werewolfs to save FL, cuz at this point nobody knows what the drug even does. It's never clearly explained. Like how did he even SEE where she was? Did he transform willingly? So many questions. (Just don't even ask, it's better that way...)
- Anyway ML saved her, she gets sent to the lab, and mind you she is GRUBBY at this point, having escaped through a vent and running around with no shoes. She gets escorted to the lab, and BAM she's suddenly in clean clothes. No joke, she's dirty outside the lab, and next when they're in the lab, she is clean. Granted she was given time to rest up and all, but there was zero transition LOL. I was so confused that it was laughable.
- Stella and Seungjae are a cute couple, don't get me wrong. But when she suddenly saved a high school kid from bullies and he helped her out, that was just sooooooo random. It was forcefully pushed into the story.
- Her being a half-sister to Kang-il was kinda not too surprising, but it was just jarring that she suddenly went from secretary to president. The board of directors being like "who's that?", like come on, how do you not know the CEO's secretary, this is the lady you speak to if you wanna meet him.
- Does Eunhong ever get her billions of won payment at the end??? This was entirely forgotten... how sad...
- Really disliked how Eunhong gave up her acting career in the end too. Which reminds me, it was also ridiculous how she was a small-time actress yet NOBODY recognized her, nobody knew she was not a French aristocrat. Very realistic.
- I won't even get started on the whole plot behind the drug and political drama behind Poli vs. LJ corp. This story made billion dollar corporations out to be like a joke LOL.
See? And this isn't even half of it. I could keep going. But I won't.
It's just such a pity though, because the art was sooo well done. And the comedic parts were great too! The memes that came out at the start were golden. But sadly, the plot killed everything... It's a short enough series, so let's be thankful this wasn't drawn out more hahaha.
