Description

There were a couple of things that bothered me about this manga, and I don't mean the poor quality of the first two or three chapters (one can get around that easily). The worst of all I think was that none of these characters, from the twins to those around them, were lovable to the smallest extent. Rui is obnoxious and manipulative, Minato is a dependent pushover with the lowest self-esteem, to say nothing of their terrible parents and useless complying friends.

Another thing that particularly annoyed me was the insulting way the whole deal started. Right off the bat the reader is supposed to believe in this long lost brother and a supposed-dead mother, who always loved Minato at a proper distance, as well as in this "trustworthy" father who ignored one of his kids' very existence and denied the other one his own mother. We are supposed to feel sorry for him, the poor thing, who could not "forgive that woman" (who did nothing wrong, by the way) and so justified his miserably actions in self-pity. We are also to believe that Rui's love is the result of this abstract bond between twins who never met in the course of 15 years, thus self-justifiable. How Minato, who started off as a seemingly reasonable kid, came to accept this love and return it (despite the fact there wasn't an ounce in him that came across as interested in men) is just a commonplace given. "Oh, you love him back? Okay, cool. I guess that's fair since this is a Romance... and all?" this was my reaction to the whole trust-speech-and-confession chapter.

The acknowledgement of incest, on Minato's part, came up once only, but even so I found it an interesting attempt that could have actually saved the story. That is, of course, until it lost all purpose and we were back to nonsensical misunderstandings and shallow angst all over again. In the end, like mangafan321 pointed out, nothing is sort out, nothing gets a satisfying answer:

they spend one year apart and reach the conclusion that they are willing to wait for each other forever--what does this even mean? Are you willing to come clean to your parents and friends? How will you feed that oh-so burning love that somehow consumes you, even though we don't really understand why? Or do you mean, you are "destined for each other" as in "we'll meet our destines when we die" sort of thing?

I need more twincest now.

But it wasn't too bad either. It did get a bit frustrating in the second volume where pretty much in every chapter theres some sort of misunderstanding that gets blown out of proportion just when things are starting to look good. The first volume was a bit hard to read but it's not too bad once you get that. I love the art it's so nostalgic in a way reminds me of the mangas and anime from the 80s

This is my favourite story by Fuwa Shinri. I don't agree with the other reviewers. The scans of vol. 1 were really bad, yes, that's what kinda shocked me first, too. But if you endure it and just look at the story, it's okay. I normally don't like twincest too much, but this one was refreshing. Kinda tragic, but with a good end. The twist in the story near the end was a bit irritating- I don't really know where that came from. But it turned out well in the end. I like the characters, especially Rui's pursuit and his suffering.

Scanlation Hurts

I can't rate this one because my eyes hurt after trying to read the first few chapters of volume one. The scans need to be redone in a bad way. I skimmed through volume 2, which is considerably better quality in scanlation, but I didn't see any dramatic scene or outstanding art that made it worth suffering through volume 1 for full impact.

There aren't many options for us few but devoted fans of love between people that were once one egg. There's plenty of ambiguous fanservice out there, from Siva and Cipher to the Ouran twins, but this is one of only two or so series chronicling love between brothers of the same genetic makeup. It's a shame it's so dull and overdone otherwise. Melodrama can be a plenty enjoyable genre, and this manga does take advantage of the whole incest thing pretty well, but when your characters are oozing globular tears more often than they aren't, you're doing something wrong.

Normally I love Fuwa-Sensei's work. In fact, I'd say she's one of my favorite Yaoi/Shounen Ai mangaka. But this series, was...well, just really boring and badly done. I should have listened to my intuition as a twin that this wasn't worth reading, but despite my hate of twincest manga, I gave it a try. Well, I guess I got what I was expecting.

Normally I really like Fuwa Shinri's work. Unfortunately, this scans on this are so bad it's really difficult to see what's going on. The text is often clear, but I can't really tell what's going on. I appreciate the hard work the scanlators went through to translate the text, but I just can't enjoy it when the scanned pages are so fuzzy.

I feel like the ending kinda leaves you hanging (spoiler) yes, i get that they Do end up together, but does the family find out, did they actually even solve any of the problems that seperated them in the first place, it was like "i love you". "i love you, too" ok thats it, thats the end. It could have used another volume...

I think it was nothing special. It would have been better without Rui constantly threatening with "if you don't love me then i'm going back to the U.S.!!!!". the most annoying and cliche way of getting attention IMO -_- the rest is very predictable, too.
The art also wasn't my cup of tea (but i guess that's what you can expect, it being from 1996... )
