Popular phys-ed teacher Toshimitsu Sugaya has been given the assignment of keeping an eye on a gang of thugs in the school, particularly their leader Tatsumi Yoshino, the "Devil of Nami High." However, he soon finds out that not only is Yoshino a decent guy, but he's been idolizing Sugaya for over a year! It doesn't take long for Yoshino to win over the reluctant teacher and the two start a secret love affair. Can a teacher/student relationship really work and how long can these two hide their secret?

It's a crime sensei was only given one volume of this to work with, because it would have been a million times better given a slower burn.

I liked this a lot, and each the characters are charming/really lovely, but there were so many problems with this:

He's not great when it comes to conflict resolution most of the time. He doesn't really help, sometimes.
He does stop like, one fight, but otherwise kinda just lets Yoshino get away with it.

He did handle the yakuza grumps well, but other than that... When Yoshino was getting beat up, he kinda just made things worse?? It's not okay to beat up kids, even bullies, man? Plus, what if they go after Minoru again since he screwed the deal? You're skilled enough to disarm kids without hurting them, moron!! But I mean, yeah... him not being perfect, and being human is kinda the point, I guess...

Too fast.

He made a move in c1??? On almost barely still a shallow crush. You crazy, man? She should have just made it a cheek brush, or something, sheesh. I mean yeah, still inappropriate, but way less of a turn-off 😂 and it is a s/t manga... This is the real limitation, being a single volume tankoubon.

The sex is like 1.2 s and it was the most underwhelming shit ever, lmao. It never got sexier than the first fantasy shot!! God damn, bro! Give us the rest, you coward!
Isaku is struggling with her sameface syndrome on the seme, lol.

The good:

Dude, Yoshino's goddamn succubus-levels sexy. Isaku's art isn't always in top form, but some s, man.
ok they are cute.
I mean, still worth reading/buying tbh.

I can definitely see why this has high ratings—it's fairly respectable for a teacher-student romance. I probably would have rated it much higher 10 years ago! It feels a bit flat compared to what I'm used to now, though. Definitely doesn't feel like a complete story after just one volume. But not terrible!

You know what? This one is soooo worth to buy. Cute is an absolute law in Devils Honey. Love the seme for being such a lovable boyfriend and Yoshino is so straight forward (which is awesome), makes me feel kinda bad for Sugaya that had to do numerous effort to restain himself. I totally can't wait for the spin off Ginger Honey.

A rather light-hearted series with some hilarious good-old humour in Natsume Isaku-sensei's style. I guess the story isn't exactly new, but for the most part it's still pretty okay. I really like the characters, though it's a shame that we haven't got to know much about the side ones. Hopefully with the spin-off Ginger Honey we can get to see them more fleshed out. The mangaka's art was already good since her first works, and it still has been improving even more with time. I quite enjoyed what I read.

As expected of Natsume Isaku, this one's funny, romantic, and cute all mixed together. Yoshino is strong, straight-forward, and adorable, and Sugaya is damn cool. I really like the two characters in this! Even though it was just one volume, the story didn't feel too rushed. I wish there was more, to be honest 😀

just want to say that it is good that there's an available Spanish scanlation of this manga TT_TT.
~As you expect from Natsume Isaku's work, this one is also very funny 😀 [or maybe i just love sensei's work...] I think this is the first time I've read a student-teacher relationship from the mangaka. It is good that there's a vast selection/theme of funny stories from sensei ranging from yakuza - to school sempai/kouhai - to work (like ameiro) - and now student-teacher... 😀

So I bought this on a whim as a digital copy at SuBLime's site and really liked it. And I totally recommend it. Teacher x student with a likeable, relatable seme teacher and cute but not girly delinquent uke. What more can you ask for? And it was so funny at times, I laughed out loud... I don't really have anything to complain about when it comes to this manga. It was a light read, well constructed and paced with good art. It wasn't perhaps terribly deep but not all mangas have to be all angsty. And there was a bit of that thrown in there too. Loved it!
