Classic tropes are rife, but the unique parts and likeable characters make the story fun.
If you don't hate the following, you'll probably really enjoy this story:
- The unfortunate MC, a female whose talents are discarded and is silenced into marriage by The Patriarchy. Girl power! Fight the patriarchy!
- The ML who is tired of being pursued by aaaaaall the women, except he's not pursued by nerdy MC who prefers Books Over Boys
- The contract marriage that saves ML from annoying courtship and protects the MC's pursuits
- The ML who can't help but fall in love because she's not like Those Other Girls
- The MC who is so dense that romantic social cues are lost on her. She's innocent and Doesn't Think That Way
- An actually nice, respectful, mature (except for when it comes to understanding his romantic feelings), and ive ML.
- The perfect, ive adoptive family for the MC. What great fortune for MC! She deserves the best!
I've read plenty of contract marriage style webtoons and this one, while not the best of the best, is enjoyable and faaaaaar from the worst.
The reason why I like it over others is that the story really focuses on her independent achievements and SO FAR there's no indication that once the couple are officially together, she won't decide to step back and prioritize annoying things like her role as the wife of a Duke and having children.
Update: Did it end? As if it
suddenly got axed and needed to wrap it up in a single chapter
If so, expect all the
subplots to be left hanging
There was only a close to season 2 and a final looking "The End", no "see you in season 3!". Korean sources still show it in a "serializing" status, so I hope there will be, but...that final chapter, especially the final image, really read like a "we need to end this series now"
