Description

Vampires Charles J. Chrishunds (Charley) and Johnny Rayflo have a strange relationship. Charley is a cyborg and a vampire hunter for the Vatican, while his master Rayflo enjoys a playboy lifestyle. While fighting crimes involving vampires, Charley struggles to control his lust for blood and for Rayflo, while Rayflo delights in seducing his servant and attempts to deal with issues from his own past. Rayflo cares about Charley (also known as Cherry and Chris), and these feelings don't seem to be one-sided. 576g3t

Note:
The second volume of Vassalord contains a bonus one-shot in the back, a fantasy story called "Zoul Half." This special one-shot was first published in the Comic Blade Masamune summer issue in 2003.

I had high hopes, since a lot of people were praising this manga, but I feel disappointed. I dropped this at ch12, because it was so badly written and drawn, I couldn't follow the story at all. Very confusing s, no introduction to characters, sudden plot-changes that make absolutely no sense at all. It's hard to understand what's going on, and I really hate this type of sloppy story-telling. The art itself is not that bad, but during action scenes you can't really tell what's happening because of the bad cropping of the s.
So yeah, it's a promising idea/setting with a really bad execution.

First of all, the description for the manga itself is a tad bit misleading because although Rayflo looked as though he was a generic playboy, he wasn't really one. It was also pretty obvious how much and how deeply he cares about Chris.

Well, I guess it's not everyone's cup o' tea but this manga seriously had me enthralled. I was too captivated to notice anything else except the story and the art. Rayflo is seriously hot. Chris wasn't too bad either, I didn't like his hairstyle at times but that lust (and this word describes it perfectly!) for Rayflo was intense!

The story itself was interesting for me since I don't particularly read about sci-fi and action, add my bias of vampires to that (I think it's a theme that's severely overused these days). But, right from the start it just drew me in and I couldn't let go till I finished. The flow was really good, in my opinion, because there was hardly a pause or filler. There weren't any "sex scenes" but I think the way that Chris drank blood from Rayflo was absolutely intimate (even more of a "turn on" than seeing smut or something along that line).

As an avid reader, there are only a few stories that actually captivate me so much that I finish reading within at most 10 hours straight. This is one of those few.

Favorite Vampire Manga

This is definitely my most favorite vampire manga, and one of my top ten of all time. Loved it all the way through, and the ending was just- oh yes. I like how Charlie, even though his hair style and face changed a bit, that he was still recognizable.

I don't really know why people criticize this manga. It's one of my little favourite ones. In my opinion, the mangaka's intent wasn't that she wanted to make a real or a "kind of" yaoi or shounen ai manga. I think she thought it would be enough if she just drew a really good fantasy-comedy manga with a piece of shounen ai and a lot of fanservice for girls. And I don't have any problems with that.
By the way, I like all the characters and the plot as well. For me it's 10/10.

The story is great and the art is amazing. I would even read this manga just for the main characters. Their relationship is interesting, cute and romantic. Sometimes I just can't tell who is the puppy and who is the master. They keep changing roles (lol). Love the side characters too. All of them are funny and interesting, especially the number-0 masochistic mafia with the stuffed bear. And the chibi~~ gahhhh~ I would kill for the chibi. Just too too cute > <

First and foremost, this manga, like some people here have already said, is nothing special. Ok, I agree that it had a decent story, but it's not something I would either consider an original masterpiece, or a genius idea to a plot. To prove my point, I would like to make a helpful checklist:

Vampieres falling in love? Check!
Forbidden love of some kind? Check!
Something tries to get inbetween them? Check!
Most characters in this manga are homosexuals? Check!
Uke is hard to get, but is actually in love with the seme? Check!
Evil mastermind that looks like a kid but is actually 600+ years old? Check!

Sounds special right? lol

Vampires, sexy vampires, sexy vampires who are hot for each other. Throw in a hell of a lot of sexual tension, comedy, drama, drama, drama and you've made me a very happy girl. & What the hell? You can never have too much fan-service! ;D It's purely personal taste.
I also don't understand why so many find the plot confusing, I had not troubles with it :/ I found it interesting and exciting!! Is every concept unique to Vassalord alone? Of course not, but ever story adopts concepts from somewhere but it certainly still deserves some credit for its own execution of them.
If you love BL, sexy vampires, just the right amount of drama with a refreshing touch of comedy, and if you're not so damn nit-picky, don't give this a miss!! I fell head-over-heels, maybe you will too.
My only complaint is that I still wanted more! It did feel a little unresolved-ish in at least one aspect, although maybe not the most important (which makes a difference).

when i started to read this, i didn't had so much expectations.. but then i just couldn't stop reading this. the art is really good and the plot is so amazing.. everytime something new appears and make the story more fascinating.. im realling hoping that continues to be amazing..

Art, Plot and HOTNESS

I'm giving this thing a 10 because it is a 10! The plot is awesome, the genre behind it all is a thriller, with the set up, and side notes, and it's all coming together as the chapters hit the pages. And all this from the fact that the author had to hit the ground running after ONE PICTURE? It's amazing work! If you do put it down and go back, you'll see how it's working out. I love the art, the details she puts in to everything, and the swings from raging hot to silly faces. Her ability to capture expressiveness is fantastic. The author has a wonderful sense of humor, the punning in Japanese is almost non-stop. I'm starting to wonder if people don't realize that this is a graphic novel, and it takes time to set up a plot and introduce characters. It's definitely not a Yaoi PWP one shot. This is a long term couple with all the ups and downs, insane acquaintances, unwanted relatives, and totally bizarre circumstances along with the crime factors. The fact that the Vassalord series also has furigana through out makes it a great way to practice for someone learning Japanese, too. I sort of wish more manga were as generous with the little assistance on the side of the Kanji.
