I read the manga Ghost Hunt. The story had some romantic chemistry going on while the characters were trying to solve paranormal cases. i wish the relationship could have been explored further, but it wasn't. i'd like to see another in-depth mystery/horror type of story. One you could take seriously or intelligently, but this time, also includes a developing relationship between the main lead(s). 3o5m3q
edit as long as there's a strong bond developing between the two main leads (hint at partnership, male and female) i'm up for it. I want to avoid anything too romantic. Also avoiding comedy (by that i mean, nothing shallow or cutesy), and yaoi/yuri setups.

Yuureitou - but I'm not so sure about the romance...

P.A. perhaps? It's more mystery-ish than the description on this site makes it sound.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni series
You already have 7 Seeds on your list, so I won't repeat that one.

Enigma is largely shounen, right? i'm not sure if i want to go through with it, since it doesn't cover what i'm targeting.
It looks like most of the recommendations don't involve much romance/relationship emphasis aside from P.A. and Tasogare Otome x Amnesia. Well that's what i expected.
I'll give P.A. a shot, but definitely still open for more recommendations. I don't mind if the topic isn't paranormal, but i definitely want something intelligent, with tragic/dark elements, and does a great job with the development of relationships.

Sorry, but I only read Seinen and Shounen, but here are some suggestions.
Horror/gore:
Shingetsutan Tsukihime
Sugar Dark - Umerareta Yami to Shoujo
Kara no Kyoukai - The Garden of Sinners it's a bit weird and hard to follow
Mystery:
Blood Alone
Mirai Nikki

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo I don't much about the romance but I think it was more present than in GH.
Ryouko no Shinrei Jikenbo Kinda similar to Ghost Hunt but a bit old, still decent though.
Keishichou Tokuhanka 007 I didn't like it much, too much shoujo-ish romance, not enough mystery, but it might be to your taste.

Keishichou Tokuhanka 007 😔 not my taste at all.
P.A. and Shinrei Tantei Yakumo also are a bit too shallow.
@sunder, I never specified just shoujo and as long as the content is fitting I'm fine.
i'm going to look into sugar dark and Blood Alone. I'm avoiding Mirai Nikki though. There's something about the clinging girl that makes it distasteful.
I have high standards or i'm asking for the wrong recommendations. Lol.

I can second Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, the romance has much more development than an average shounen series. The last arc is quite good too. On the other hand it is quite episodic and I that at one point there were 3 fanservice chapters in a row (at least the last one managed to be romantic).
Ashita Dorobou - a bit of a stretch and it can be occasionally mature
Kagome Kagome - has mystery, but it's probably not all that serious; I vaguely it having fanservice, but I don't see the ecchi tag on the manga page, so maybe there wasn't anything particularly explicite; as for romance
the ending is very inconclusive.

Mahou Tsukai no Yome has an interesting synopsis so I will check it out. thanks!
I tried a bit of Blood Alone. I get the feeling that Tasogare Otome x Amnesia has a similar romantic vibe, like too lovey dovey, not portrayed within rational limits. Blood Alone wasn't that bad, but i'm not going to read further on. I mean, if i see another scenario with a girl crying about a guy whose just sick, dumbing the rest of the plot down. seppuku
maybe just really great bonding moments or character interactions is enough. romance is exaggerated. love is a better word.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi - This might be up your alley. I don't know about romance, but you can see strong bonds. The mystery aspect is the best.
