Well. I was just browsing around MU, and then...I started hiccupping! And I'm still hiccupping! Gah. 6fvq

Anyway, how often do you get the hiccups? Do you know how you get `em? Or have you never gotten them......!? 😲 !!!

My hiccups sound really retarded... I think they can be compared to guinea pig squeaks... yup, they do sound like guinea pig squeaks.
When I would cough, I would hiccup right after coughing... x____x;; So, I would cough to clear the ickyness in my throat, but the hiccup would cancel out the cough... so I would have to cough again.... and... ...yeah... ;_____;...
Usually I get hiccups when I get really excited... or something... but not this time... =
____=;;

What's your way of getting rid of hiccups?

I try holding my breath, inhaling deeply... and it usually works... usually...

Do you know what's your longest run of having hiccups?

I dunno mine. Maybe ten minutes or so. Apparently the record is 68 years... I don't believe it though. 😛

I don't get them very often, & they seem pretty random.

I get two kinds - small ones, which I don't mind & usually I just ignore them & they go away on their own; and BIG ones, that actually hurt and I usually get rid of them by holding my breath.

My twin boys got the hiccups before they were born, it was pretty funny to have that little hiccup inside on one side of my belly or the other. They never got the hiccups at the same time, though. 🤣

my hiccups don't make a sound (anymore) I didn't like hearing hiccups (about 5 years ago) so I 'swallowed' them. next thing I knew they didn't make a sound anymore know I just have the 'hiccup motion' going on.
I don't hiccups often last time I got them was last year.
I don't know how to get rid of them so I just leave them until they die down
my longest record was one day almost 2 days

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

I rarely get them, but I enjoy them for the brief few minutes that I have. 🙂 They usually go away without me doing anything.

Whenever I drink soda. Some sodas give me bigger hiccups than others. I have a hiccup index specifically for that 🤣

I haven't gotten hiccups in a long time.
Best to stop breathing.
Once your heart stops, the hiccups should too.
Probably.
I have yet to see a hiccuping corpse.

But yeah, you're supposed to hold your breath...

I get them when I don't slow down when I eat. Especially when I eat dry foods. They would go away if I drink water or when I try to control my breathing. But there are some times when they don't go away at all, and keep going on for over 5 minutes.

I almost never get the hiccups anymore, but I used to get them more often. When I used to get them, they were almost always caused by laughing a lot, so now when I notice myself starting to get them, I force myself to stop laughing.

The best way I know of to get rid of the hiccups is the "drink from the other side of the glass" method. While standing, you take a glass of water and put your lips on the far side of the glass. Then, you bend over, drinking the water as you go. The more you drink, the further you have to bend over to keep drinking, and you must drink the whole glass without stopping. If done right, this works the muscles that are spasming to cause the hiccups and thus breaks the pattern.

I get the hiccups very often. I laugh too much to the point where it hurts, and then i get the hiccups. My hiccups can hurt if they are caused from laughter that hurt, and my friends don't believe that hiccups can hurt!

I think of pineapple... and for some reason that works every time. It works for my sister too... but there's absolutely no reason why it should work... just thinking of pineapple cures all of my hiccups within 1 or 2 hiccups.

Urg. I get the hiccups at the most random times. And they usually always hurt and last at least 45min to an hour... which is probably why they hurt.

Sometimes, just holding my breath works, but most of the time, they still find a way to persist and annoy and cause pain. I also find drinking huge gulps of water without stopping to take a breather works effectively... but still.

I hope I don't end up as one of those people that has them for months and years and such. That's always kinda been a fear of mine. 🤣

Me too!! I eat really fast and I ALWAYS have to drink after the first gulp if not I'll definitely get the hiccups. For the random hiccups merely drinking a glass of water is not enough though. I have to pinch my nose while drinking it, there has to be a sensation in my ears while swallowing the water, and then still have to drink one more glass the normal way.
I could never get rid of hiccups by holding/controlling my breath. How do you guys do it? I first found out about the "drink from the other side of the glass" method in Honey and Clover. Never thought it was real, I thought the mangaka made it up.

I hate hiccups.

So. Freaking. Much.

I'm aware that I'm being really annoying when I'm going through a fit, and it hurts as well ):
I solve the problem by holding my breath and taking 3 gulps of any sort of liquid, usually water. It usually works, but if the hiccups are coming every 3 seconds it's really hard to gulp 3 times in the space of 3 seconds 🤣

Something that always works is someone scaring you. It's never failed for me. Only problem is you can't be expecting it because, well obviously you're not going to be surprised if you know it's coming XD

I get them often.
Bad ones; and very painful.

They sound hilarious - high pitched, cute little squeaks. I used to send my teachers into hysterical laughter 🤨

i think that hiccups are due to some irritation in the lungs.. or something lung and breathing related..
i just drink water and when i get them they eventually go away.. even though i didnt drink water.. so.. hiccuping for me is like a surprise or a change of pace cause i really dont get it that often.. but i wont say a blessing.. cause i tend to fart in front of others when i hiccup too much.. 😐

Anyway, how often do you get the hiccups?
A lot when I was small. Rarely nowadays(once a month?). And I don't want to talk about how my hiccup sounds...

What's your way of getting rid of hiccups?
A glass of water.

Do you know what's your longest run of having hiccups?
An hour or more. I was really freaked out that time, thinking that it would last for the rest of my life. 🙄

Btw, tactics, do you know that you just posted your 2010th post 🤣
