Trying to get into the head of a (straight) guy who's in love, lol. 3e1248

Looking for a romance manga from a guy's perspective that is:

---- NOT ecchi.

---- NOT harem.

---- Main genre is ROMANCE, not something else like Action or Adventure.

---- Focuses on the emotional (NOT physical) aspects of the guy's romantic feelings, eg. tenderness, adoration, insecurity, jealousy, wistfulness, anguish, joy, commitment, fear, betrayal, devotion, anger, resentment, regret, faith, etc. Should really go in-depth into his perspective and how he views the romance.

---- A bit of lust is ok but should never be the focus, so even if it's there the manga shouldn't be a smutty manga. (See: NO ecchi.) Any lust/sex should be tasteful and connected meaningfully to deeper emotions.

---- Must have a HAPPY ENDING! 😃 No horrid tragedies for me kthx.

Any suggestions? All genres ok, except hentai/ecchi/harem.

Examples: Hakuji, Good Father, Koi Kaze (warning: incest), Tonari no Danshi.

Holy...! Yes that's it! Lol I can't believe I missed that thread. 🙂 Thanks so much.

Edit: Ah... But when I read the recs on those threads so many of them don't match my requirements (they have ecchi/harem), so I guess I'd still appreciate it if ppl could give me some tailored recommendations? Thanks...

IIRC, Kare Kano has the relationship from both perspectives, not just his and not just hers.

Onani Master Kurosawa... Yeah, don't be hesitant because of the plot summary. The first half is mostly about him being an immoral lust-seeking typical teenage guy, but you'll be surprised with the transformation he goes throughout the story.

Toradora! and the mangaka's other work Watashitachi no Tamura-kun are great recs too. The Toradora!'s anime has been completely finished if you're impatient to wait for the scanlations, since they're kinda slow. Don't worry, the anime is equally great.

Ack, there are some hearttearing moments in them though.

Oyasumi Punpun kinda fits, although it's unique. It's a great manga regardless though, and it does feature a guy's infatuation/love for a girl, only he's drawn like some... penguin-thingy. You'll see what I mean! And Girlfriend is a compilation of ALL kinds of romantic relationships, and most of them are from the viewpoint of a guy so I'm sure you'll find some you like.

If you're open to anime, watch Ef - A Tale of Memories and the sequel A Tale of Melodies!! @___@ Such an emotional rollercoaster that one is, and depending on your standpoint you can interpret it as a happy or sad end!

Onani Master Kurosawa

Definitly, don't let the beginning throw you off though. It's funny and has a GREAT ending.

I'm not big on romances but Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu is amazing. Told from the guy's perspective mostly and just a touching story.

Otomen
Ahiru no Oujisama

Hard to say if they have a happy ending since it's still continuing. 🙂

video girl ai and i"s both by the same mangaka. The mangaka writes out a lot of what the protagonist is thinking.

Otomen and Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu is definitely what you're looking for. The former contains a lot more humor and the latter is a totally heart-wrenching romance.
