A flyer included with a preview sample of the fifth Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun) manga volume has confirmed that production of an OVA version has been green-lit for an October 29 release. w3mp

The manga is Motoi Fuyukawa's spinoff of Kazuma Kamachi's Toaru Majutsu no Index (A Certain Magic Index) light novels. The manga has been running in ASCII Media Works' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine since the April 2007 issue, and the fifth compiled book volume is officially shipping on Saturday. The Toaru Majutsu no Index light novels already inspired a television anime series in 2008, and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun inspired its own television anime last year. There will also be an extra anime episode bundled on a DVD with the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Official Visual Book on July 24.

The 7 net shopping, e-hon, and Yahoo! Books retailers had listed a "Railgun OVA adaptation announcement" for the cover of the August issue of Dengeki Daioh, which will ship on Saturday. However, the retail listings had not specified if the announcement was for the extra anime episode bundled with July's Official Visual Book or a new project.
