My brain votes for a self build PC. It´s the emulation (+ piracy) machine despite some rather shady console ports. I learned how to build one trough tutorials by the German Gamestar magazone. I suggest to invest around 700€, to have it last for ca. 5 years, and grab Win 10 by upgrading from Win 7/8, if possible.
My heart votes for the PS4, as it is the best current console, and Microsoft even itted defeat as they stopped posting sales numbers.
Even the Xbone has it´s moments but the architecture itself is flawed (the install times) and PS Plus is the better service. Especially if you have more than 1 PS product.
The superior Wii U may be dead in the water but it´s exclusives are reasonably strong and i have all 4 alternatives + the 2 handhelds. They are dirt cheap after all, especially on Ebay.

I agree with the German librarian. PC > PS4 > XOne.

The console supremacy is a pretty clean cut, unless you have some inner reservations about Sony for one reason or another or, for example, clearly prefer the MS controller over the Sony one. PS4 is technically superior and it has a far greater install base.

PC is the first choice simply due to the overwhelming advantage of far greater options for things to play, input options to play with and generally far better prices (balanced by the fact that you need to invest more capital upfront if you don't want a toaster).

Well, the answer is obviously PC.
If you don't have any problems with budget then assembling a high performance PC should take priority over other consoles.
Plus, PC is a multi platformer gadget.
Then comes PS and XBOne.
And for certain console specific game you may consider using a emulator, though it always doesn't helps much.

I also agree that, While Xbox's Controller is really cool and all, PS's controller is more handy.

Yeah, I'm starting to think PC too now. Fortunately I got a friend that works with computers so I'm hoping that he can get some good deals on PC components for me 😀

Build a PC, it's dead easy to build one, the important thing is just reading up reviews on parts you want to buy and constantly checking what deals the computer stores near you are offering at the time. If you want to go low budget, I'd suggest an i5 or maybe i7 system (make sure you get the "K" models so you can over clock), SSD for your primary which will boost your boot up speeds, two HDDs in a RAID 1 configuration for high speed loading, and maybe a third HDD for storage of things that don't require much loading speed like anime. Expect to spend around $1K for a system that will last you a while and don't cheap out on parts, I highly recommend ASUS products for hardware.

You can do much more things and play many more games with a PC compared to console. Although a decent gaming PC is significantly more expensive than consoles they're worth the investment, besides the cost is quite reasonable as long as you don't go all bat shit crazy enthusiast builds. Unless you can afford it and are a genuine tech enthusiast, avoid buying top end rigs. They're ridiculously overpriced for the performance boost and technology changes so fast they'll be obsolete in 2 to 3 years, an enthusiast build essentially gets outperformed by a mainstream mid tier gaming rig.

If you have to choose, stick with PC. There's little to anything on the XB1 aside from Crimson Dragon, and, while there is a handful of titles worth getting a PS4 for, an overwhelming chunk of the "must buy" games are on other systems much cheaper to acquire (Primarily PS3 and Vita).

Ended up getting a new PC early 2017 and later on an Xbox One S (mainly to play local co-op and such... and a couple of my friends also had xboxes...) Funnily enough I haven't really played that much on the PC though. Some Overwatch and Diablo 3 with friends mostly... and various strategy games. Also some weird games like Fallout Equestria, and a bunch of games from GOG.com, I'm a sucker for nostalgia games...

Haven't even seen Crimson Dragon before, and I was on a shooter/bullet hell spree a while back, but since I HAVE played some of the Panzer Dragoon games I might have to look into getting this one (only 149 SEK)... Thanks for the tip.

I wonder regarding your new PC, could you share your components?

Not really any point... technically just upgraded my old one with some new parts. Had a friend change the things he felt was needed. But I will have to get a completely new one sometime this year... (as soon as I can afford it)
