Hey guys. 1462n
Just a question to some of the online collectors out there: How do you guys sort your manga, if you devilishly ed it from unmentionable places? (And no, I'm not going to tell people how / where I get mine. That's not up for discussion.)
I've been using mangaupdates for quite some time to keep up to date of what I've ed - not necessarily what I've read. Yes, I can use the latter, but I find that my connection speed is so slow, I might as well read while I . I'm a fast reader. 😛
I've been sorting my manga manually on my pc, and it comes to quite a big piece of work. Problem is sorting the stuff in a way that makes sence.
I was wondering if there existed a program similar to www.anidb.info 's anime sorter, that uses filehash info to sort all your anime, by renaming it in the way you choose. Does something like this exist? Or even some way of adding a 'tag' to a zip/rar file, (like with a mp3's ID3 tag), that you can sort these things on your own without editing the images...
Meh. Layman's question is this - How/With what can I sort my manga that it doesn't take 2 weeks to get it sorted?
Any suggestions will be appreciated. o/
Moved to chatterbox...the suggestion forum is for suggestions to improve the site.
My suggestion...you should've sorted the minute you ed them.
If you're asking for how to arrange them:
I got 3 folders in 1 drive Manga, Manhwa and Manhua. Inside them are Folders for different titles and inside those are folders for different volumes. I'd rather not separate the chapters but label them as title_ch001_pg001. Also in the 3 main folders (Manga, Manhwa and Manhua) I have a folder named 0000-Complete to place titles completely scanned in there. The 0000 are so that it's the first folder so it's easier too find.
If you're asking for an app or some sort then I got nothing since I do my sorting manually.

Aye, I was unsure where to put it. Thanks.
But doesn't sorting manually break one's will to live sometimes? I also sort the minute I , and try to get them right, but when we're talking of a manga list that's over 250 titles... Gah, I don't even want to think about the logistical problems involved.
I was thinking something along the line of media monkey, but only for images. Meh.
Seems that I'll have to write one myself then. But I'd rather not reinvent the wheel - if there is something out there that works, why not tweak it a bit?
File extensions noted though, thanks balkraven. I think I would have to do something similar, but like this:
/v[].zip
or, for incomplete volumes:
/_vc[].zip
ag well, long and short is this - a manga hashing app would have been nice. :/

Not really true if you've already sorted them when they're ed since it's only by chapter/volume. If you held off sorting them until you've accumulated a lot then there's a problem. 🤣
And for the record, my lists already go beyond a thousand. 😛

Wow, you're even including scanlator...Personally, the credit page is enough if you decide to keep them like I do.

True. I just feel that one should honour them in another way, when sharing these things. Also makes it easier to spot which scanlation you're dealing with, when poking at it.
I don't like the credit pages, but I don't remove them either. I just dump them on the end of a volume, in stead of the very front. If I had to write a program to sort all these things in a zip/rar file, the composition would look something like this:
/v[<scanlator(s)>].zip
inside ->
vc[]/
and inside that ->
c[]<0000_00_(0)>.jpg
//as in <(additionalno. for covers)>
...and, finally, after all the chapters in the volume:
_zzz_credits/
_zzz_c.jpg
//end zip file
The reason for this is simple - I use cdisplay. I hate having the credit pages in front, when compiling the stuff.
...I can't even why I explained this in the first place. ^_^;;
