I've realized that Red Storm tends to be influenced by old tribal traditions that are very similar to old tribes of the our history. Whether it be Africa, China, Japan, Korea, etc. 1m5m6g

When in the topic of Polygamy, I get it. I understand it. In fact, I sometimes wish it wasn't forbidden in most countries, but let us save that conversation for another day. What I want to know is, how many women can our main character actually marry? Has there ever been a limit in tribes of our history?

I also want to talk about is the importance of the first child. Most importantly, the first male born. It seems like it doesn't matter if you are the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd wife. If you are able to give birth to a male child FIRST, that male child becomes the the next in line to become the GLOW or the Chief/Lord of the tribe, in short, the first child would be called the Young Glow if his father the Glow of the tribe.

What confuses me is that I do not understand why a child with such importance is given to a foreign individual without any reluctance of being viewed from a distance. The guy may be super powerful, but he could have been a spy or the devil in disguise. Despite the Main Character's mother dieing tragically when he was at a very young age, I just find it odd that the author didn't go in to detail of the risks & mental mind that the Glow was allowing for the Young Glow...

I think for the most part a man could have as many wives as he could . Since women weren't breadwinners but children raiser than the man was the soul source of income. So if a man could only 2 wives than that's his limit. However in case of richer men than the rules change since you can add in concubines, (don't have full legal responsibility as a wife would have, but are responsible for the male children born form these women)

Just so we are clear, this series (the korean raws) updates releases on Friday or Saturday?
I'm not completely sure.

Also, the whole polygamy issue should tell you that this kind of tribe existed waaaaaaay past before the time of Jesus Christ himself. Probably way past the time of Moses. It's all speculation.

Quote from odyssey

...since you can add in concubines, (don't have full legal responsibility as a wife would have, but are responsible for the male children born form these women)

Yet, in this series, the 1st wife is considered the Mother of all the Glow's children regardless of whichever wife/concubine gave birth to them. So the 1st Wife reigns supreme...at least in this tribe.

Tribal marriages were way different than marriages today. It's a completely different mind set involved. In this setting, much like ancient cultures, the two main priorities were marriage of power and marriage for progeny. a proto-eugenics was involved, and its kinda interesting to see Red Storm employ it accurately in the story. Whatever the culture deemed to be of highest importance, that was who got to breed. In some cultures it was strength or strength in combat, others was intelligence, others it was resources, others it was survivability / age.

If you look at Hebrew cultures, the marriages were almost always set up to benefit the family in one way or the other. If someone had large amount of resources, it was a given they were going to choose the most attractive wife, or a strategic marriage, since resources were secured, so it could be different from one person to the next. But for poorer people it was almost always about gaining an advantage even if that meant offering some of your kids as slaves to the household if it meant marrying off one of your daughters.

Red Storm isn't exactly like any historical marriages i've read about. at least so far they haven't really explained the purpose behind their first choice other than the Paraia tribe was approached by other tribes first. and it seems they were not exactly able to turn down offers depending on the tribe seeking marriage. so marriage in Red Storm seems to be as much about etiquette as eugenics or politics.

About polygamy in red storm

He is already married to two wives, that is known by chapter 173 I believe, and His first wife is actually encouraging him to marry a Noble women from the tribe, to further develop his social status. So as far as I know, he can have as many wives as he wants. While the first wife would reign overall others, I think.
