I have a couple gay cousins, which is funny because both of them lived with my parents at some point (one before I was born, and one lived with us until I was like 8). Either way, both of them are some of the coolest dudes I know.

I being gay and in the closet can testify to the pain that comes from being in the closet from your family. All the gay jokes that they say hurt quite a bit. I plan to come out once I get a man.
And now to get on topic... If I had a child and it came out to me, I would be happy that I could relate to my child in a very personal way.

As a straight man, I have no problem with gays. But, if I find something funny, (such as fulfilling a homosexual stereotype) I'll make fun of you about it.
I have to. Otherwise we couldn't be friends.
As for the Gay jokes, they'll know better when you come out. They're respect for you may change, but they're still your family.

The jokes that make fun of what I am in a hateful way that hurt my feelings. I have friends who crack jokes everyone in a while to be funny not to hurt my feelings. I know my family means no harm by the jokes, but it just hurts to have them make fun of what I am around me.
