Define "friend", if you (@op) would smack him in the face for that I wouldn't call that a frendship...
If it really were my friend though, I would ask why does he think so and would rather talk to him and tell why I don't think it's stupid.

i guess i would be curious as to why this so called friend thinks that way and has he ever tried reading it or having taken a look at what kind of thing it is, unless it's that type of people who think they are the right ones or judge things without knowing much about them, then don't think its possible to do anything in that situation 😀

I've heard many people call manga stupid or childish. My reaction depends on the person. If it is a friend I'll try to explain that it isn't. Of course that if he insists I'll just say Fine and ignore it. If it's someone I don't know well or don't really get along with I'll just say Whatever and ignore it.
I don't really care when people say that because it mainly results from their own ignorance so...

I'll just say whatever then move on to a different topic. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so I won't get mad at my friends if they said manga is stupid (hopefully they'll be nice enough not to pursue to subject in such a manner).
