Since i'm an uncreative little brat I got some inspiration from a friend who on skype is named Empathy.

Heheh, I like this thread. I've just skimmed through dozens of pages. People really do have the most interesting (sometimes strange?) reasons to choose their name. (And it's also an indication that I have way too much time on my hands...)

To stay on topic, my name comes from the title of a book from Asimov (Sci-Fi) Pebble in the Sky. I read it some years ago, and about that time I also first signed up in an online forum. So I needed a name, and I went with Pebble_in_the_Sky.
I like it, so I've kept it since then but it just happened to be shortened in Pebble (or Pebble_) over the years. 😮
