MangaUpdates lynira suggested this week's new poll. If a series could have the type of humor that you like, how much of that humor would you like in the series? 1y5r58

You can discuss this poll on our forums here:
http://mangaupdates.conexionsite.com/showtopic.php?tid=24266

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):
http://mangaupdates.conexionsite.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Would you name your child after a manga or anime character?
Choices:
No - votes: 6491 (42.7%)
I don't plan to or can't have children - votes: 1729 (11.4%)
Maybe... - votes: 2129 (14%)
Yes, just after my favourite char - votes: 602 (4%)
Only if it doesn't stick out too much in my country - votes: 2411 (15.9%)
Only if it's not from a well-known shounen manga - votes: 201 (1.3%)
Only if it doesn't have stupid meaning - votes: 586 (3.9%)
Only if my wife/husband agrees to - votes: 1046 (6.9%)
There were 15195 total votes.
The poll ended: February 12th 2011

The choice "no" isn't that interesting... But if the name is more socially acceptable in the country you live in, then over 2000 people would go for it! Would the name "Ichigo" or "Sakura" stick out too much in the US?...

"Ichigo" and "Sakura" are nice names; they might stick out though XD

i don't usually laugh on jokes much. but the movie kung fu hustle made me laugh. especially the scene where the boss's subordinate tries to extinguish the fire which was made by his fault by using alcohol without knowing about the danger in that action. also the scene where the wife was beating up the husband was funny. i don't like vulgar, sexual or repulsive jokes or joke scenes. i also don't like mutilation played as just a joke. so i think i only like realistic jokes.

The only humor I laugh at is something taboo or dark, like when a woman or child (like infants) get beaten. The cliche crap like perverted guys or crap you'd only laugh at if you lived or were raised in Japan isn't funny. Just a little bit of abuse is all I need (^_-)-*
"Shut yer mouth woman!" punch "And quiet that brat, too!" kicks crib over
Yeaaaaa... That's the stuff 🙂

Well, obviously if it's a comedy manga I want lots of humor. But generally I like moderate. A serious story, but have some humor sometimes so it doesn't get too dark.

Thegenre i love the most is probably rom com (romatic comedy) so at least medium, but i selected prominent since i generally read manga with comedy (and never read manga listed in the drama or tragedy genre 😛 )

Ichigo and Sakura are Japanese names. They'll stick out if your kid isn't Japanese.

Damn, and here I thought naming my French children Goku, Minato, and Izumi was a great idea.

I'd have a lot of laughs if I saw a kid in my country named Ichigo or Sakura. Or maybe Naruto? 😀 D
Naruto Kowalski lololol

I'd feel bad for them, since sakura and ichigo are mostly known as anime characters here (USA) and anime isn't for everyone, so they'd be ridiculed.
best stick to japanese names for japanese people.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if I had a Japanese name or knew someone who isn't Japanese with a Japanese name. I think it's cool. I mean, the names like Emma, John, David (aka common names) are so boring! (so offense to anyone with those names) We hear these names so many times and it gets annoying when someone has the same name as you. I love unique names, ones that stand out. I would definitely give my child a name foreign to my country (Canada! c 🙂 Also there are people who name their kids like Apple and Starlight, so I doubt giving an actual name (even though it's a foreign name) would do much harm.
