he's 10. It seems many people are forgetting this, but age does have a certain impact on character. Since he is 10, despite being gifted at magic, it is expected for him to question and compare himself again and again. A part of a good book, particularly one with a young protagonist is gender roles and self identity.

Actually, he's 9. 😉 Still, it is my favorite manga despite all the fanservice.

A very underrated manga.

Has a very good story. Has a lot of characters which are unique, play an important part, and are developed. Some people are just too fussy about the fan-service. Get over it. If you have a problem with fan-service then look over it and get down to the story or stop complaining and get out.

As for the people who stopped after reading the first few volumes, don't comment. I know that the first few chapters aren't really extraordinary but later on it becomes a totally new manga with a deep, enthralling story.

I love this manga.

I dont know how but I kinda disliked Akamatsu's works, random fights, random fan services, random useless inventions, weak plot or there is even a plot?, it's just simple comedy, not really my taste. (I read negima only half way like 15 vol or something)
I feel like Love Hina's saving grace was the ending,

at least he married the girl.

but to be honest I prefer Full Metal Panic over this one.

my apologize, I'll put a spoiler tag.

Its not bad...but the beginning was better, now it's just too serious.
Like my friend said, why couldn't he have just kept on teaching girls until graduation, I'm sure it wouldn't be too bad

Because that would be far too similar to his earlier works. I think he wants to break away from that and try something new, thus the Magic world.

I like the series, but the main problem is I have to re-read the series once in a while or I forget the characters because there are simply too many. I like the plot and all but the author tries to manage too much.

The other reason for breaking away into a different, more action-oriented manga type is that Ken-san would have had to cut the manga shorter, as the same jokes can get old quickly and there is only so much you can do with a magic child teacher without going into magic battles. Sure, he could have kept going with a more relationship oriented style but that would resemble Love Hina too much AND seeing as Negi is only technically 9-years-old, it's hard for him to have that type of relationship with girls that much older than him. Plus, Ken-san wanted to make a longer manga anyways and moving into the field he does allows for a larger growth of the main character AND allows for a longer manga with more character development for other characters. I mean, he DOES have 32 chracters to completely explore, some of which haven't barely been touched on, like the cheerleaders or even less, Zazie Rainyday. Zazie is seen quite a bit, but only has any interaction with the story a few times and none of those times important. Also, in regards to following the original idea, if Ken-san kept the manga to a teaching a class style, there becomes no clear goal in sight. The story would become less focused on Negi because there would be a lack of any concrete goal. The story would become episodic, with very little actual plot, similar to Ranma 1/2. From his style, Ken-san has little experience with an episodic style of writing, which is why he creates longer arcs that have ends. not that he doesn't write small in between episodes, but when he does, he soon follows up with a longer arc or has the episodes provide information for an arc.

Anyway, as you can see, I like the story the way it is. Actually, i think after the end of this arc, Ken-san will have the hardest time coming up with material for continuing the manga. Because he CAN'T end it after the magic world arc. There will still be at least one thing left unresolved; the ending of Negi's training at Mahora Academy. Ken-san must keep the story going at LEAST until class 3-A graduates middle school. In fact, I predict that is when the manga will end. He certainly could find a way to make it last longer, but it would be hard there would have to be a solid reason for the continuation of the manga. Once all the current characters have been explored and Negi finds his father or confirms his father's death, there will be almost no reason to keep going with the manga. anyway, I've rambled. excuse me

EDIT: I changed my mind. I think after the magic world arc, the next place Negi and Co. will go is to Istanbul. It's been mentioned multiple times, so a lot of things must be happening there. However, when or where that takes place in the storyline, I don't know. I don't think it will be immediately after the Magic World arc. Not even the current arc was immediately after the Mahora festival arc, so I think there will be some information gathering or something of the sort. Anyway, this is all just speculation Can't wait till Christmas.

I don't even like the animation style of the anime. Too much of a break from the style of the Manga IMO.
