Finally this movie beat Titanic in of gross revenue, making it the highest grossing film ever. I know it's a great movie, but I've never thought that it would sur Titanic. 315y2o

I loved it. T_T Didn't get to see it in 3D though... I've been hearing people complain because of how long it was, which I don't get since I'd rather watch a good two and a half hour movie than a good hour and a half one. Hopefully it will be as good on DVD/Blu-Ray. Can't really too many lines, saw it about a month ago, but I liked the 'Jar-head clan' part.

Watched the trailer and no, not another look-what-I-can-do-with-my-modern-technique-weeeh!-oh-yeah-sorry-for-the-lame-storyline movie for me.

I read an interview with James Cameron lately and he flat out mentioned that most of the time, he doesn't care about the story/characters at all. To him, moviemaking is a handycraft and his challenge is to be a visual pioneer. In Titanic, he only included the romance to get people to actually watch the ship sinking (which was his point of interest). I understand the point, but I don't want to watch a movie made for these purposes only.

District 9 is very good, though. Both visually and mentally stimulating.

At one point in the movie, you knew something important was going to happen...knew it was coming up soon...and I really had to go to the bathroom, but I was going to wait until he did it...and it was going to happen any second now...and...screw this! I can go to the bathroom and be back before he does anything!! And I did.

I found it very predictable and clicheed. And I love sci-fis (anything from The Matrix to Star Wars, from classic Star Trek to the new Star Trek to I, Robot) and I knew going in that everyone was saying that Avatar was all about the special effects, not the plot. Which is why I didn't even really want to see it, but I wanted to spend some time with my friends before one flew to Nigeria for Christmas and it was the only thing one of us wasn't violently opposed to seeing...

It was okay, I guess, but my friends and I left reminded of "The Song That Never Ends" It dragged a lot and felt like it was never going to end! And I'm usually very big into that whole sci-fi thing and love nothing more than to sit my butt down in a theater and watch one.

...I might not have felt the drag as much had I watched it in 3D, but when I watch 3D, I get killer migraines, so that really wasn't an option. And if it NEEDED to be 3D to be enjoyed, I don't think it was a well-done movie. I've seen movies before that were intended for 3D that were still fun watches.

It was ok but besides the 3D aspect of it, I think it was overrated.

It was a really good movie. It might have been hyped up a lot, but I was not disappointed.

It was visually appelling but it lacked on parts of the story in my mind. It would have been nice if it went more into the idea of

things like the collective conscousness. The story sets it up to go in to that idea. If the last remaining scientiest would have mentioned that its weird that it all happened but then came to a conclusion about the interconnection of thoughts it would be better from my nerd side.

well u can agree but I must leave GF is making fun of me for sitting in a towel still.

It was enjoyable, I didn't take it too seriously. A great action romp, and the 3D elements were beyond fantastic.

I thought the animation was totally amazing, and that even though the storyline was a bit cliche and predictable at times, it was definitely worth seeing 🙂
I'm not sure if this has been posted yet (about Avatar's plot), but my friend found it and it made me laugh;
http://twitpic.com/wlomu/full (Warning: It contains spoilers if you haven't seen Avatar yet)

P.S.

Seemed to me like a sci-fi pocahantas or something. It was OKAY. Certainly not the best movie ever made like some of my friends were saying and not horrible. , you will enjoy this link haha 😉

Warn: Banned

Everyone say this film is a rip-off of Pocahontas. I think so too. I saw the film twice in 3-d and it was still one of the most terrible scifi film ever made. The graphics and sound effects were amazing. The story is obviously heavily plagiarized. And what's with the alien sex scene?? That was not hot at all. It was like two Blue NBA monkeys trying to hump each other....

The story isn't even as nearly good as Pocahontas and the ending was just stupid.....It would have been better if they lost. At least a sad tragic ending would have made people feel something....

But that's just my opinion anyway.....

Great movie. I went to the theather with low exectation because when a movie has so many good reviews I don't like it, but I loved it.
Don't know if other thinks the same but I could feel it related to final fantasy. Not as a whole but parts. the animals, some characteristics from the characters and part of the story made me feel that with this technology could finally be made great final fantasy movies.
The animation was awesome.

I listened to the professional critics, my friends, a few random reviewers on the web as well as the pope and guess what, the bashers were right. This movie is all show and no go. The story sucked, the character development was next to none and nothing else was fully explained. The movie was put out there for the reason Cameron himself said, to look really good. The only good thing about this movie is how good it looks. The whole living planet/collective consciousness thing was done much better in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, and it isn't too far behind Avatar in of appearance.

Here is a breakdown review of Avatar:
Appearance: 10/10 (hands down the best looking movie of 2009)
Story: 3/10
Characters: 2/10
Development: 0/10 (There was none, other than hostilities and a cheap romance)
