Quote from TofuQueen

Oookay I'm a little slow sometimes. (_)

Just realized today that I've been running the "console only" version at work, and the "installs to system tray" (or whatever the fancier version is called) at home. I now have the "console only" version running at home, & will let y'all know if it's still giving me the daily BSoD.

Ok... Which version is better to run then?
I ed one of them! Im happy to help!
ohh and for shame! only 43 computers!

Isn't there also one for decoding information from outer space? Can you sign us up for that one too?

You can read up on it if you like. Not overly sure if there are teams set up for it.

You just need to run the program and finish a WU. Score is dependent on how long that WU is expected to take on the average machine. Deadlineless WU don't exist anymore, so don't worry about it

Just a word of caution: I for one would not let any outside university or government agency have access to my computer or internet in my home - even if it's a PS3, even if it's for 'research'. And if any of you are minors, get your parent(s) permission before doing this. , they can't get to your PS3 without the web and once they're in your home's space, they're there & you may never be able to get rid of them. I think that in one way this is a good idea but in another way, it's an invasion of privacy. Before you do this, ask yourself these question, "What's to prevent organized crime for hitching a ride? What precautions have they taken?" And... "What's to prevent them from doing more than they're supposed to do, such as access personal information, & then later just say, 'Oops! We're sorry. We didn't know it would do that.'" Or some such nonsense. As far as organized crime is concerned, please don't think I'm being an alarmist. I'm not. Identity theft (using the internet) has replaced drug trafficking as the #1 money earner for organized crime.

Lastly, I think this is a great idea if watched carefully. However, before you take part, make darn sure that you can partition off that program so that it doesn't do anything else or go anywhere else other than what it's supposed to. If I couldn't do that, I wouldn't do it. Not in a million years. As the saying goes, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
