New Poll - In a Fantasy World 1c5y5l

Honestly, my priority would be food and water along with trying to figure out where I was. I think it's better to know more information about the world and then making a decision about the future. Once I knew enough about that world, I think I would try to learn magic to make it there. 36493e
You know the world is ending when "obtaining a harem" isn't the priority of 80% males, which should contribute to at least 40%(?) of the total votes here. Can't speak for females ...

You look at it from the wrong perspective. Obviously you need "Food, water, and shelter" first afterwards it would be best to "Blend in with the locals and live a normal life" while "Learning magic". If you are talented in magic and become strong than you should go on an adventure. The "Obtain a harem"-point will be possible then.
"Take over the world" is too bothersome, even if you would be strongest in the world, why would anyone want that? You could do the same thing without taking it over, if you are strong enough to reach this goal.

What's the point in a harem? It's just trouble. Heck, one girl can be troublesome enough.
And to the other posts, learning magic doesn't automatically mean I'll be strong enough to fight the bad guys; it's the same idea with a zombie apocalypse: everyone thinks they'd be the badass survivor, while we probably would all die within minutes XD

My first priority is "food, water, and shelter".
Surprisingly enough (for me), there're more votes in "learning magic". You can't learn magic if you die within hours wandering around fantasy world. =_____=
First is "food, water, and shelter", then "blend in with the locals and live a normal life". Get information about this magical fantasy world that you don't know. After you get enough information (and trust), it's up to you!

I think everyone who said "learn magic" meant "once I made sure I wouldn't die from hunger/thirst/whatever". Learning magic implies looking for a teacher (so at least some mingling with the locals) and making sure you don't die before you finish.
Actually, I first went for "food, water and shelter" and then saw the "learn magic" choice. It was not a utility choice (once you have magic you can basically do anything you want), which a surprinsing number of people here made, but a cool choice (magic is awesome!).

Yeah, sorry, 'obtaining a harem' is too hilarious not to pick. If possible, it's definitely a worthy goal.
From a more reasonable stand point, I'll probably try to blend in and live a normal life.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

you would be my rainbow in shades of grey.[/color]
If I had a fantasy self, it'd be a tentacle monster.

I'm kind of surprised everyone didn't pick food water and shelter.
3 minutes without shelter, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food and 3 months without hope is the general guidelines for survival.
Second choice would have been take over the world, obtain a harem or go home depending on the setting.
edit: Now that I think about it, I'm surprised harem didn't beat out food, water and shelter considering all the harem stories out there nowadays. I wonder what kind of magic people are thinking about when it comes to fantasy settings.

The first choice is kind of injust, as it's an obvious priority. Everything else is about desires, but this one is about survival.
Well, however, my priority over anything would be to learn of magic. I'd first get some knowledge about that, before looking for any food. What's more, if it's like a stereotype novel where a king summons you, you don't have to worry about food.
Introducing knowledge over time is a given, and if it's a fantasy world, taking over the world seems pretty boring : the reason you'd do that is for power, but isn't it even better to have that power without any responsibility ? Fantasy allows for that.
One thing I certainly wouldn't do ( and apparently I am of an uncommon kind ) is getting a harem. It looks more nightmarish than anything, and traveling alone or changing companion is the best. After all, unlike the real world, if it's fantasy, you can do everything alone ( or so I suppose ). I also wouldn't be looking back for a way to the real world as another is more interesting, unless I can freely travel between worlds, even though it means leaving everyone I knew behind ( I couldn't anyway assume I'd get back safely home and at the right time, not after everyone I knew has died ). The only reason I have to care about the actual world is getting money to assure a safe pension to my folks.

He just pointed out the most realistic plot order for each poll-choice.
For me, my main priority would be Food, water, and shelter.
Second would be to Blend in with the locals, adapt, and live a normal life.
Third would be to Learn magic (if possible), and introduce technology (to gain favor).
Next would be to get super powerful and Beat the final boss (or best fighter).
Therefore getting OVER POWERED enough to Take over the world would be the next step.
After that would be to obtain a harem (confidence to maintain one should be high by then).
Lastly, would be to find a way back to the real world (if only for nostalgic temporally visit purposes).
I guess that's how I'd go about it.

The first choice is an immediate reaction, and all the rest are long term plans.
Except the second, if there is a portal behind you...
Probably would have been a better poll without the first choice.

if there is a portal behind you...
What kind of people would just return back immediately ?

I went with "Learning Magic" because I'm assuming we're talking about one of those fictionalized fantasy world where nobody just shows up randomly. It won't matter if nobody speaks English, that I'm dressed strangely, that I won't have anything even remotely resembling such that food, water and shelter won't be an issue. Someone obviously summoned me here because people don't just accidentally fall into magic portals into otherworlds unless of course that specific portal was left open all the time specifically set to let one specific person to slip through and nobody else. All the survival issue stuff will be taken care of by whoever brought me to said fantasy world.
This means that regardless of why I'm actually here where it to become a legendary magic knight from another world that I'm going to return to after defeating the princess; get engaged to Wolfram von Bielefelt and am declared ruler of the place all in the same evening; build a harem; introduce technology; travel across the land while building a team of subjugated wildlife just so that I can get gym badges; defeat Lord Volde--- You-Know-Who; build giant steam-powered battle robots; or whatever else that I'm here for that I can get on with it.... Oh wait, but I probably need to learn magic first.

Nearly all the options are horrifying. It's interesting how a nuclear holocaust has nearly 1200 votes and a supervolcano "just" 120, other than radiation the situation would be the same. I guess it's the influence of movies and the media?
