Well, they suffered what a lot of groups are suffering: lack of dedicated staff. Most groups are willing to help train people if they're willing to come through. What hurts is when new people show up and don't come through and disappear. So, if you really want to these groups, the best way is to do something! Scanning, cleaning/typesetting, proofreading, translating, and quality-controlling...

Both groups will be ed their dedication and for the volume of work they produced, which was awesome. I'm very grateful for the many exceptional stories that they made available to the rest of us, such as Kaze no Yukue, Memory of the Future, Abiru Junjou, Sai Koi ni Ochitamae and more. Thank you!

That's right. Nowadays you can't find dedicated staff anymore. Also, with LJ most of those who could do translating, editing etc. form smaller groups just because they want to do their "own thing". As a scanlator, I'm really annoyed by this recent trend. If you want groups to stop disbanding, them and help out!
On-topic again: I'm sad to see DokiDoki close down as well but I understand their decision completely 'cause my group's going to be next... sometime... I'm still holding the fort, maybe it'll last till beginning of next year...

That's too bad, so many good groups died this year. Hochuuami is one too, since they gave lots of their projects to other goupr klike Fushichou and Urusai!

I did not read any of their works, but it's sad to see another group leave....
I know some people are sad to see them go....and may complain about lateness, and because they leave...but scanlating is Very hard work (or for me any ways) and time consuming too....Specialy with the amount of Japanese characters....It takes me like 2 weeks to scanlate one thing, but than again I'm one person...

Sorry to hear there is a lack of staff. It never came across my mind as there is so many new scanslation sites poping up. Truely, I really respect all your hard works and hope that you manage to survive till next year.
