I tried to submit a new series to the database - Katekyo Hitman Reborn dj - Kimi to Anata to - and the submission seems to have been rejected and I'm not sure why. I've looked through the listings pretty throughly and couldn't find another listing for it and it is definitely scanlated. 4b5m4v

Could you please tell me why it wasn't approved?

We only approve doujinshi series entries that have scanlated releases as according to MangaUpdates

The series has been scanlated though. The release was just not entered into MU's database.

I repeat, we only approve doujinshi series that have been scanlated as according to MU

I would like some clarification. How does one get a DJ/oneshot "scanlated as according to MU"? Does this mean we have to add the release information before creating series information? There is nothing in the FAQ that says this so I am quite confused.

From what I understand I think you do have to put in the release first before you can create the series.
It is in the FAQ.
First "How come my series submission was not approved?" http://mangaupdates.conexionsite.com/faq.html?cid=3#item56
This has a redirect link to "Can I add information for unscanlated oneshots, doujinshi, novels, and other alternate media?" http://mangaupdates.conexionsite.com/faq.html?cid=7#item49
From there it specifically states "Once it has been scanlated and approved on this site, feel free to add the information!"
The issue with the OP's series was that the group never made the release through MU and hence was not acknowledged as scanlated "according to MU"

There must be a release entry for the doujinshi/oneshot otherwise we won't approve the series entry. Same actually applies to artbooks, drama CDs, and (light) novels.

You can simultaneously submit the release and series entry, but the series entry just won't be approved unless the release entry is.
