This week's fun poll was suggested by our member lokix666. If you were going to create a protagonist (or maybe you ARE that protagonist) and you could time travel, which time period would you choose/prefer? Not an exhaustive list, but it should do for most! 5d3j1i

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://mangaupdates.conexionsite.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: In a romance series, which would you rather see the main character pursue?
Choices:
Childhood friend - votes: 3204 (23.6%)
Senpai - votes: 1411 (10.4%)
Kouhai - votes: 420 (3.1%)
Little sibling - votes: 335 (2.5%)
Elder sibling - votes: 272 (2%)
Same age - votes: 1985 (14.6%)
Someone a lot older - votes: 833 (6.1%)
Someone a lot younger - votes: 268 (2%)
Someone they just met (love at first sight) - votes: 910 (6.7%)
Teacher (and is a student) - votes: 558 (4.1%)
Student (and is a teacher) - votes: 163 (1.2%)
Forbidden love interest - votes: 1725 (12.7%)
Alien - votes: 316 (2.3%)
Animal or mythical beast - votes: 826 (6.1%)
Android or inanimate object - votes: 377 (2.8%)
There were 13603 total votes.
The poll ended: January 25th 2014

Ya, some of these overlap, but oh well. But ya, I do consider romancing a childhood friend to be cute. I wonder how often it happens in real life...

I picked Near future (Hi-tech, space travel, etc) mainly because I'm not really interested in the past.
Why would I want to go so far back where I could easily get eaten by a dinosaur or some other creature. (Animals were huge back then).
Also the lack of soap in the past. O.o Using urine as mouthwash. No thanks.
Go to a time of war? Yeah that sounds fun.
Which left me with two options now. Near future, and post-apocalyptic.
Now the reason why post-apocalyptic is out is because ... well I'm not that anti humans. Also I think again there would be lack of soap and such. Plus no luxury type items like a nice bed, electronics, stores to get stuff from. Not to mention the fact that it may be overrun by zom zoms. Why would I want to see zom zoms? O.O NO no no no no no zom zom for me.

But I could be timelord like the Dr. and travel all over the time line. I could visit the other places. However, when it comes to a preference on where to stay I would pick near future.
Wait that was if I was the protagonist. If this was some character hmmm .... I guess Ancient, Medieval, or Renaissance.

Sidenote - great now I have Jimmy Eat World: Futures stuck in my head.

The problem isn't a real life, the problem is it's almost never work in manga\anime. No matter how childhood friend character tries to get MC love and ion he got snatched by someone else.

Not all too interested in the past either. If the mc had the power to time travel to the past, I would prefer him to travel only a few years back at most (for example to try to fix past mistakes in his life etc).

Voted for Near Future because I always like to see different authors takes on what the future is going to look like. Post-apocalyptic comes a close second though. (Anybody knows a good manga with time travel to the post-apocalyptic future?)

I also voted "Near future" because i want to see what is still to come.

It's interesting though that this poll assumes that there won't be a "far in the future" where it's not Post-apocalyptic. If i could chose without these poll restrictions i would probably go for ~4000 years in the future and check out all the tech that is developed by then. I don't think humanity will destroy itself.

I went with post-apocalyptic. I'm a sucker for anything post-apocalyptic/dystopia so I think plots with a society like in Fallout and Mad Max are cool to see in fiction. Add time travel into the mix and things are just peachy.

I have always enjoyed medieval settings. Even in TV and film.

It was hard to pick, but I ultimately chose Prehistoric because dinosaurs are awesome.

Age gaps and Student-Teacher relationships are the best. Sempai-Kohai are pretty cute too. Course, if the author's good, no matter what relationship it is it'll be good.

I've recently gotten into post-apocalyptic so that's what I voted for.

Ancient/Medieval. I like things from those era, and they seem fun whenever I read about them.

Modern / Near future - Though quite like the idea of a contemporary period that is actually more advanced beneath the surface than the setting would initially have you believe.

I dated my childhood friend, our dad's are best friends and he's only 6 months older so we just kinda ended up being each other's first boyfriend/girlfriend when we were younger (like 13). They we grew up and I matured, he didn't. Not to brag, but I'm also more intelligent than he is. I love him like a brother, but having a conversation is taxing as I have to simplify and explain things all the time. Needless to say, we aren't destined for each other.
