Do you make New Year's Resolutions? Do you keep them? 😀 Either way, what are your resolutions for the coming year? 1h713n

There was already an old thread for New Year's Resolutions but that was like 2 years ago; obviously we need a new thread. The end of the Noughties! (Or the Naughties, depending on how you've lived your life!)

I actually keep my resolutions pretty well - last year it was to eat healthily and lose weight, and then I actually stopped eating junk food altogether, improved my diet and lost a whopping 12 kilos. (My BMI was 24 when I started and was 20 when I was done. Woohoo! 😎 )

My 5 resolutions for this year are:

  1. Resume swimming - I used to be a swimmer once and would like to get back to it. I haven't swum in years.

  2. Learn how to play the guitar - totally have to do this! I've written some (prolly lame) songs and would like to be able to sing my own songs at least! I mean, no one else will. 😛

  3. Start learning Japanese - so that I can actually read raw manga yay! And help my fave groups as a translator in the long run.

  4. Get a job - or I'll starve lol.

  5. Actually keep in touch with my friends who've moved away. ashamed I've been terrible about this and now I feel really guilty... I mean they used to be good friends but I'm always late in replying to their emails or calls and sometimes I even forget... I must seem like such an a-hole. 🤢 I have to fix this and remain in properly. They deserve better.

All right, that's my 5 resolutions! Maybe I'm overdoing it with five but I kept my 2 resolutions last year so what's the harm in being ambitious? Lol.

What're your resolutions?

I MAKE resolutions..
But the problem is keeping them. 😐

I can only think of three resolutions:

  1. Lose Weight!
I just need to lose 5 lbs. And I have a whole year to lose it! :3

  2. Cut back on meat!
I don't eat meat everyday but, I need to cut back on it. I've gone to the hospital because I ate too much meat in one day. It wasn't even that much but my stomach is weak. So I will try my best to replace them with soy products. Or anything other than real meat.

  3. Stop being Sarcastic!
I've been told, countless, numerous, thousands of times that my tone of voice is EXTREMELY sarcastic! People think I'm mean, people think I'm rude, people tend to really really.. hate my "attitude" despite not knowing me. So, I need to control myself. I must stop my sarcasm. I have to not tell any insensitive jokes. I have to not be.. sarcastic. One of THE hardest resolutions for me. ___

@eccentrrick, I'm a vegetarian and I too had transitioned from a meat diet to a non-meat diet in the past. If it helps, I suggest not only soy products ("faux" meat) but also learning Eastern cooking. Vegetarian food is just so much tastier in the East lol. That way you won't have a craving for meat if your tastebuds are satisfied... Well at least that's how I got weaned off meat. Spicy, tasty Indian cooking or Thai cooking or Chinese cooking that is vegetarian really saved me. Try it! 🙂

I think it's great that you're making resolutions; it shows that you know what you have to work on and you're willing to work on it. That's great! I hope your stomach doesn't have to suffer too much once you start a meatless or mostly-meatless diet. I think you'll find that your stomach and other aspects of your health also improve, like mine did. thumbs up

Lol I get the thing about not being sarcastic... I do that too sometimes and I really shouldn't. >_>; I should add that to my resolutions...

I don't usually make resolutions since I'm really bad about keeping them. However, I would like to:

  1. Play a lot more bton. It's the only sport that I like and am pretty good at. I can only play in the alley with my dad though

  2. Clean my room. It's pretty messy; trading cards, legos, and books cover the floor. I just got a new book case, and I've barely filled one-shelf cause I've been too lazy to put the books there. If I clear the floor, I can bring my couch into my room again, maybe get the minifridge in the guest room and maybe fit in the treill so I can....

  3. Run more. I'm faster than most of the girls in my class, but I still want to do better. My endurance sucks. It's also impossible for me to jog. I only have walk, run, sprint.

Geez... I've managed to accomplish a lot of important things in my life in this year of 2009, and now that the new year is approaches, i have no clue to what i want to do next.

The main things i want to accomplish in 2010, is to increase my art level to at least above average, since my drawing skills have downgraded to an embarrassing degree, and i have almost no motivation to draw again. The other is to try to finish my original series I'm writing up, but not one of them come even close to being finish. I only posted one story on Fiction Press, and i haven't posted any new chapters then, or added any new series either. I have to do a lot of research, but I'm not at school anymore, i have to do this myself. The next and important part to accomplish: is to find out what to do with my life.

The last one sounds kinda deep, but its all i could think about. I have to force myself to try harder. >:-(

Not really "resolutions" but general goals for the next year, in no particular order:

1 - Keep working on learning Japanese, and start actually working on kanji
2 - Get rid of STUFF as I have too much & don't like feeling overwhelmed by possessions (also it would be nice to be able to park the car in the garage...)
3 - Continue to improve on keeping up with housework, rather than waiting until it's a big/awful job and then blasting through it and then being so burned out that I have no energy to do it until it's a big/awful job again
4 - Get some repairs & improvements done on my house
5 - Adopt my foster son! 😀

I'll just make this a general thread, and not 2010-only.

Also, I never make New Year's resolutions. I make resolutions throughout the year, it doesn't matter if it's New Year or not. 😮

Oh, right, it's time for self-introspection. In 2010, i will try to:
1.distinguish between what i want and what i need.
2.pay more attention to time schedule, punctuality (failing to do this seriously screwed me this year) and stuffs like that.
3. wake up earlier ( hopefully before 8AM )
4. Think more about people, less about myself.
Well, that's the list in priority order.

  1. To get to around 80kg by the end of this year. I lost 19kg last year so I think if I try harder I could get to 80.
  2. Bring a girlfriend back with me to Thailand during the summer to make my mother happy ^^
  3. Get my father to stop smoking.
  4. Improve my Handwriting.
  5. Learn to drive and winning the bet of ing the first time round, with a reward of having a nice boost to my car expenses.
  6. Learning to cook more things than just Thai food.

I have a lot to do but I have the entire year right 😛

I usually don't make resolutions because I forget about them and don't keep them, but here's what I've got for 2010:

1- Find another part time job. The video store I worked at closed mid-december and I haven't been able to find anything yet. 🙁 Maybe I'll apply for work-study next semester...

2- Clean my room. I don't know if I'll keep this or not just because I really really don't want to!

3- Relearn how to play guitar. I don't know how this will play out because I don't a thing, but I have a new (cheaper) fender that sounds way better than my old guitar and I really wish I could play it.

4- Keep up my grades and keep up the level of happiness in my life
