i rather have a great plot then the art but if the arts awful i just drop the series but it's a win win if there's a manga/anime with a great plot and awesome art 4r4e21

if it's Josei..I'm not picky about the Art but it's the Plot that matters. But a good art is a plus for me.

As for shoujos....this is kinda hard..I rather choose the plot rather than the art...Prolly cuz I don't trust the cover as much as the cliche plots that I would be expecting once I read them.. 😐

I tend to do this too. The only time I don't look at a title is when the art style is too old. I tend to hate 'em because they hurt my eyes~, and i cannot relate to them ( I'm only 15 yrs. old). Only ADACHI Mitsuru has ed through this barrier.

Personally I prefer a balance between art and plot.
If I have to choose between both; Plot!!!!

Shoujo is the one genre that I think twice before reading a series with a good art. I'd ditch a shoujo series with laden cliches, weak characters, etc despite having amazingly beautiful art. I'd read shoujo with terrible art anytime as long as the story's good. So yeah, I pick plot over art in the case of shoujo-- or any genre for that matter.

Generally in that genre i don't pick much of anything from it.
The whole anoerix look with the super long body parts and everyone tooth-pick thin just doesn't catch my eye.
I might still peek at it if i see it. But if I'm going to buy it the artworks has to good. And of course plot.
Artwork without plot. A story book.
Plot without art. A novel
i think? lol

For me, it's a combination of both. The first thing I look at is the plot summary, but if the art absolutely sucks, I won't go much further unless I've been given a strong recommendation.

I think both are equally important, but I tend to get put off if the manga has a nice story/premise but not nice enough (okay, bad) art to back it up. The manga muist have an interesting story and a nice/gorgeous art, otherwise you're better off reading a novel. Ironically, I prefer shounen art style, with it's realistic and clean drawings than shoujo's too flowery and sketchy art.

Art before plot in manga. mostly becuase the plot is express through the art. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Plot summary is what I go by first, but if I open the book and go 'bleh' at the art, I put it down. Bad art is a serious turn off!

Definitely plot. Whenever I see a shoujo manga with the characters looking like many other shoujo leads, I tend to skip them, although sometimes I try to read their plot summary. If it seems interesting, I read the manga. If not, no. Although there are times that when the art is so bad that it doesn't pique my interest anymore, I don't even think of picking it up.

I don't care how awful the art is if the plot is good I am game.

I like good art but if the plot is awful the best art in the world won't make me read it. I'm a lot more tolerable about art than I am for plot.

The pen is mightier than the sword...and considerably easier to write with.

My idea of good art is usually pretty different from most people, and I'm odd in my choices of plot too. I'm usually very obsessive about picking a good title in both plot and art before reading it. Still, plot comes first by far.
