Classic paged and by a mile. The -by- scroll down (and sometimes to the side) way to make a comic offer few positives but many negatives. Turn the page reveals, double-page spreads, storytelling through the layout, breaks in the format and gutter placement all exist for a reason.

I get why made-for-phones comics are the way they are but it´s a compromise and not a new way to tell stories in an exciting way.

Webtoons look like consumer goods specifically done for certain s and their devices. Not like a story to intrigue or inspire or whatever real art can do.
Also, I wear off my fingers during scrolling long strips.

I prefer classic paged read as a long strip. The paged style packs a lot of information, but can be difficult to follow across pages. The long strip style, meanwhile, lets information flow well on scroll, but can get taxing from just how much whitespace there is. I've found a mix of the two—where I can read pages vertically—works best, with scrolling being a lot more immersive than clicking/tapping.

It's always been irritating for me to see how much wasted or unnecessary negative space there are in some webtoons, which is why I could never get into them. Smart and sometimes creative book ing is an art.

Basically, this.

Classic page style, all the way.

Classic. I read on my phone all the time and even then I prefer it over the long scrolling done for webtoons. It just feels so much better to me.

Definitely voting Classic paged for this one.

Long strip is so annoying to read.
I've heard some say that it works better on phones, where you can just keep scrolling, but since I don't read manga on my phone, I don't really have much experience with it in that form. Or much need for it.

Even if I did read manga on my phone, though, I feel like the scrolling would be much more annoying for me than just a simple tap to turn a page.

I also just prefer the layout of manga in paged format better. There's so much more that authors can do with layouts and it allows for a better flow to the reading, provided the author sets up the s and bubbles to accommodate a nice flow. You can't really do that with long strip. There's only a minimal amount of reading that can be done before having to scroll again, and every scroll breaks up the flow. It gives it this start-stop-start-stop kind of flow.

Now that I think about it, that's probably where a lot of the annoyance for me comes from. Reading long strip comics feels like being stuck in stop and go traffic. There's still stops in the classic paged format as well, but it's more akin to driving for a while and stopping at a traffic light, then driving for a while more. Especially if I'm reading in traditional two-page format (which I usually do).
