-Skip Beat

Basically very funny, lighthearted manga with a very strong unique main character or premise. Doesn't have to be as plot heavy as Skip Beat, but not something as endlessly repetitive as The Wallflower or Special A. I also really liked the school politics in Koi da no Ai da no and Oresama Teacher, so something in that vein is welcome. Romance is not a must.

I'm pretty sure at least a few of these fit what you're looking for, check them out, they're some of my favourite manga. 😀
Gokusen - technically this is classified as josei and has a rather atypical art style, but don't let that put you off, it's great
