Any shonen mangas out there where the protagonists has a serious attitude (as opposed to being perverted, stupid or naive in some mangas) 295k3
As for the genres, fantasy, science fiction, or anything you could think of is welcome here.

Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna - good mystery, and the hero is a genius, but he does have some issues
M.C.Law - also mystery, but it's seinen, a bit more mature than shonen so it should be ok
Beck - the main character is kind of a geek, but the main cast surraunding him are great
Kiseijuu - this one has character development, so the main guy becomes physical strong and also develops a serious attitude

Blood Alone
Vampire Juujikai
Chrome Shelled Regios: Missing Mail (there are a few mangas, as long as they follow the anime)

It's too easy if it's seinen...
Shounen only:
Claymore - Clare, not Raki
Dean Wonderland
Death Note
Maou: Juvenile Remix
Rurouni Kenshin
