Okay so, I'm looking for a non-shoujo manga that is heavily based on Romance. However, I'd like for the boy and girl (No Yaoi or Yuri) to get together fairly quickly, either the first chapter or fairly fast into the series.I would prefer if the characters actually like each other from the get go and the series would reflect on how their relationship would evolve and develop. That's about it, although I think it's good to mention I don't really like harems, aside from that and the previously mentioned, all posts are welcome.P.S Thank you to everyone that comments, you guys rock 1m76f

If you don't care if it's borderline-H/ecchi, then try Koibana Onsen. They get together rather quickly and then the rest of the manga is about them maturing and growing with each other.

But your request is really hard since you want a shounen romance that love happens quickly and is heavily based on romance. But, anywho, you could try Mahou Tsukai Kurohime. They don't get together in the first chapter, but in they get together rather quickly. The main guy loves the girl VERY much, and the girl doesn't love him

until Zero gives up his life so that Kurohime can live. after that Kurohime is ALL about Zero and loves him to the very core of her heart. The rest of the manga after that event is about ! Kurohime's journey to revive Zero and kill the Gods/Goddesses.

What you're describing is a difficult one, I doubt that there will be very many responses that can accurately fit the bill. The primary reason is something needs to be driving the story. If the couple is already together, then its difficult to create any conflict / resolution. Secondly, if its shoune/seinen (especially shounen), then often there is something fan service driving the manga (usually in the form of harem). I've read a ton of shounen/seinen romance and very little comes to mind.

Or I should say, the real problem is that everything that comes to mind is borderline pornographic seinen.
Futari Ecchi, which is more of a educational comedy type thing about newly weds who are perverted (ecchi) together (futari).
Virgin na Kankei is about a guy who ends up having a one night stand that turns into a relationship with a woman who ends up being his boss at his new job.
Sundome is kinda sweet in its own borderline pornographic kind of way. You might need to purchase the last 2 volumes though, as the scanslations of it are horrible, while the official translations are not.
Koibana Onsen as said before.

Even if you cut out the need for them to be "together" and you look at shounen/seinen series that just focus on a single relationship and don't involve weird love polygons, you're still only left with oneshots and outliers. I don't think you're going to find anything in the shounen demographic, but in for seinen:
Miman Renai, which is very sweet romance about a 30 year old eroge programmer that falls in love with a middle school girl (its not pedophillic at all).
SWWEEET is a tragic romance that has some somewhat dark undertones about 2 childhood friends who are coping with the dead of the boy's twin brother.

Haha, ikr. I believe it is because of the fan base that it is like that. Since seinen is directed at older audiences, it shows alot of mature or graphic scenes that are depicted in the adult life. Look at it in this way, these seinens are directed at older males who don't have steady girlfriends so they create a story that the audience would like to be in. A quick/envious relationship that has alot of sex in it. But, another seinen I would recommend would be REC, but beware of chapter 24(i believe), as it often leads to otaku-rage(I, myself got angry over that chapter, lol!). It doesn't have alot of sex in REC, but it has it's share, and the main leads do get together rather quickly.

I am pretty sure that since shounen mangas are directed at teenage boys who don't have any girlfriends(no offense to the single teenagers!) and because of that, they show the main character trying to get the girl(s), and that encourages/attracts them into reading the mangas. It's the desire of the teenager to have a life like that of the manga character and therefore makes them want to read the manga. I'm talking about the generic shounen manga btw. (comedy+harem+ecchi+romance)

Shoujo on the other hand is directed at young teenage girls who have the dream of a "handsome popular boy" trying to get the normal/plain girl. The handome guy could also be replaced by a "bad boy", and in some cases, it's the bad boy and the handsome guy trying to get the plain/average girl. Anywho, it will be very hard

Oh yeah the mentioning of Yandere Kanojo made me think of Onidere. Onidere should fit your request. They get together before the manga starts iirc, and it's about the development of their relationship

i don't agree with you on this.. I had a girlfriend in my teens & i still have, I belive it's the Mangakas dream of his youth... but then again some people may seek manga for these reasons.

you're generalising alot
alot of girls hate those types of shoujos...
look at shoujos like Natsume Yuujinchou for example
theres a reason why they're so popular

I recommend Koharu no hibi you are going to love this. I know what kind of thing you are looking for cause i had problems finding stuff like that too.

Another one that fits is mysterious girlfriend X but seriously this thing is totaly weird. Don't really know if you'll like it.

Other than that most of the stuf in the adult category fit. Most of them were already recommended so I'll add my personal favorite on the list which is Henkoi - The after school diary

Okujouhime is starting to get scanlated...
I've heard great (and sad) things about Saishuu Heiki Kanojo, but I haven't yet read it myself.
Also, Chobits of course, if you don't mind the quality of the first few volums and social commentary.

Lastly, I recommend Hetakoi, although it doesn't match your criteria. It has quite a realistic and mature storyline and likeable characters.

@sarah-eats-cupcakes Yes, I know I am generalizing ALOT. But it's just that I'm saying... err, it's hard to explain.. And I'm sure you and I(me especially) don't want to see my wall of text that I could write about how the fan bases of the different genres are directed at different age groups and how the manga makes the reader relate/is relevant to the reader....

@VOoDOoCold I know that there are many manga readers who have relationships, but the mangaka tries to make the manga relavant to that of the reader.

Anywho...I would second Chobits, it's very touching, but they don't REALLY get together as bf and gf early on, but they are the two main characters.
I would suggest Seto no Hanayome because they get married and they have to live with each other. I would suggest watching the anime instead though, since the scanlations sort of stopped.
