It is my pleasure to announce the grand opening of website Inside Scanlation! p2p3g
As you all know, one of MangaUpdates' focuses is on scanlations. Inside Scanlation details the history of the scanlation process. There are articles about different sectors of the scene, from speed scanlations to Lurk to our own site here. There are also interviews with various sites, groups, and organizations, including an IRC interview with me and Manick, njt from MangaHelpers, and even something from TokyoPop. Even if you have only a cursory interest, I highly recommend you check out the site.
Two cool things I want to point out.
Inside Scanlation is the work of Gum, who compiled all this data into the baby you see now. It has been a work in progress for the last 3 years, and now it has seen the light of day. May we see more updates in the future!

Now that I'm reading the interviews I feel like such a geezer! I recognize almost ALL those names! Oh yeah I that guy, oh yeah I use to follow that group...was 2002 really 7 years ago? And where's my walking stick?

truly an awesome site :x felt kinda sad when i read the timeline... all those old groups ceasing to scanlate.

Whoa...I meant to just take a quick look around at the site, but I got completely engrossed in reading the history and some of the spotlights. Fascinating stuff, amazing job on the site.

I'm actually pretty new to the scanlating scene, and so I've been really curious about it. Like the site says, "none could come up with a satisfactory answer". I've spent at least three hours reading stuff on there now. xD
The timeline is /incredible/. It's got so many things that I've heard older referring to, for one, and it's just nice to look through. It makes me that scanlating isn't just about translating and editing manga.
The site itself is great. It's wonderfully laid out, and all the little features (the 'background' tab that pops out, for one) are a delight. All in all, thank you for what must have taken an incredible amount of effort.
