Hey there, i'm craving a manga where the main character (preferably a male) is or becomes a zombie or some form of supernatural being that has to hurt/kill others to sustain life. I love angsty stories so don't hesitate to recommend them ! I would love a nice tortured main character type story and blood and guts is okay with me. I'm pretty okay with any style of manga including yaoi's (but no yuri) and please make sure that the main character is some form of supernatural being !Recommend away !! 🙂Thanks heaps 5t233y

I'd say Zombie-Loan, but it's been a while since I read it so I'm not sure if it fits exactly what you're looking for. The main protagonist is a female, but with two male protagonists that are zombies (and I think the girl is a zombie, too). The characters do have a type of "tortured" background, like

Michiru not being wanted by her family because she's "cursed" [if I correctly], Shito being born a zombie as a type of "ultimate being", and Chika's mother abandoning him as a child while the rest of the family was away.

Happy reading! 🙂

um I'm sure that in princess resurrection the main character gets turned into an immortal. However, I'm not sure it is completely what you are looking for, since I only read the first vol.

Well, this may seem way out of your description 😐 , but its the female lead who becomes a zombie, and its not for her life that she needs human flesh, but rather to satisfy her cravings for it. Its comical
at first, but then things get more zombie-ish

Zombies don't have to hurt/kill others to sustain life.

Zombies don't have to do ANYTHING to sustain life. their state of non-death doesn't change no matter what they do.

this urge to feed on human brains and mindless lurching toward that goal is racist.

IF you want something that needs to feed on others to sustain life you want a variant of VAMPIRE. Not zombie.

maybe some Ghouls. but certainly not zombies.

Have you checked the zombies tag?

http://mangaupdates.conexionsite.com/series.html?category=Zombie%2Fs

There's at least a few there that you would probably like. (Maybe Priest or Wake Up Dean?)

Also, try Lament of the Lamb. It's a close fit for what you're looking for: male protagonist who becomes infected by a disease(? could also be a psychological condition) which forces him to consume blood. The main character is also very tortured in this; however, the series never goes so far as to say that his condition is supernatural. (They keep trying and failing to explain it scientifically.) If you don't mind that it's not a real supernatural series, you may like it.

No need to get so heated over it, i've definately read manga's before and seen movies before where zombies need to eat flesh or the classic "brains" to sustain life so my post wasn't completely ridiculous. I also mentioned in my post that it didn't have to be zombies it was just my example, there are many stories out there and many versions of supernatural myths so its pretty silly to call me "racist" for thinking that zombies need flesh to live when we're talking about something that is indeed fictional and therefore doesn't have any solid background too it as they are made up of thousands of different stories and versions of the zombie myth. I'm only asking for suggestions no need to come here and bash me because you don't agree with my perception of the zombie MYTH 🙂

To everyone else thank you so much for all the great recommendations, will definitely give them all a try ! 😀
