Shoujo art tends to lean toward the making of very pretty girls and boys. But a lot don't really pay attention to backgrounds.

But in most cases they overdo it and the characters actually look long, odd and ugly. That's not pretty at all, at least not to me. 😔 And what's with the messy s and obvious inconsistency? A lot of the shoujo artists just copy and paste, which you can tell. 😔

I'd pick shounen if I really had to choose one even if shounen art can also be bad. Most of the artists I like are shounen/seinen ones. So shounen.

While both have their share of good art and bad art, shounen is generally better.
At least the most generic shounen art is decent, even if it's full of fanservicey boobs.
Generic shoujo art is just... bad. Really weird proportions and very little detail in the backgrounds.

I don't like: shoujo BIG eyes on every character, shonen BIG boobs on every (female) character, male/female harems (gawking on bishonens/bishoujos, doing lame galleries of characters, using that galleries as fillers), etc clichés. I like good plots, heat-warming humor, original situations and characters. But, actually, both genres have good examples of good art.

Something in the middle. XD Being on the glamorous side of shounen (like Kuroshitsuji or early D.Gray-man or Tsubasa), yet not getting as sweet and cute and bright as most shoujo. I guess you can say I like shounen that borrows some of its style from shoujo.
My favorite shoujo mangaka is Yuki Kaori, so I'm not much into the whole sweet and cute and bright idea anyway.

shounen is better. Usually I don't like much the art in shoujo, but in some rare cases, it can be really beautiful, like in Rose of Versailles.

I think that oldschool shoujo art looks better than todays.

Shounen's better, but that's my opinion.

Shounen tends to have much cleaner and easier to understand art, shoujo has stuff all over the place and sometimes has confusing arrangement.

Shounen. Better proportions. MUCH better proportions. And no eyes that take up half the face. 😐

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

^^ um what are you talking about? I see girls with dinner plate eyes in shounen. Proportions... not including ecchi and many fighting manga right? 🤣

overall i like more shojo but for both there are things i like (bleach, kimi ni todoke) and art I do not(love hina, love celeb)

actually i think yaoi artists are some of the best. too bad i don't read it :/

The prettiest manga i've read is Bride of the Water God, it is a manwha but it is ridiculously gorgeous. Kuroshitsuji's art is amazing and was why i stayed reading it reading it despite the mediocre plot.

Ecchi and action manga still have better proportions than most shoujo. Seriously.

i'm not sure if i believe you but i do have a smaller sample size of shounen. super long torso'd men vs women with breasts that would make them walk with a lean.
